boozehound wrote:Alright this is just getting silly. Stop bickering boys it's just not worth it. LTTF me and u have talked and made amends which duncs probably doesn't know so let's give it a rest. Enough talk about last week, most brahma people are pretty embarassed about wat happened and they can't change it, no point continuing to talk about it, I'm sure they will move on to better things.

U know I play footy to meet great people and have done that for a long time. I think this forum is a bit of fun, tongue in cheek type stuff but sometimes we get away from just enjoying being involved in a great sport with a lot of good people and get caught up in slagging people on here that under most circumstances u would probably get along well with.

I'm an idiot and do stupid undisciplined things during a game from time to time (which contrary to popular belief I'm NOT proud of) as do a lot of people. We all have faults and a bit of banter about that sort of stuff is fun sometimes but let's not get carried away. It's sport. A social thing we all love and we all have that in common.

Enjoy the off season/cricket season and a massive congrats to heccies and plymptom. Both way too good on the day and well deserved flags!

Congratulations Boozehound. Spoken like a true man. What stays on the field stays there and then you congratulate the Winner. Could not have possibly put it any better. A Mans game, you have a dust up, you get on with it and move on. End of story. Well done Boozehound for saying exactly the truth. We all make mistakes and you have put it so well. Not one of us has not made a mistake, but only stupid people will not say sorry and try to make ammends. Good on ya.

And again well done to Hectorville and Plympton. You gotta be the best on the day that counts and they were. Game played in great spirits and respect shown after the game, unlike a certain other club.
We still had a huuuuuge night last night, everyones exited about Div 4. End of the day it was a succesful year

Blokes that cant play and retarded like you are just constantly amaze me.

Duncs, I wouldn't be having a go at LTTF about his spelling. Even though you're very "exited" about Div 4 next year ;)

went to D 6 Granny, would be fair to say both Lockley and W' Croyden have got work to do or players in need of being picked up. I think both will struggle against the run and carry of div 5 sides. Good Luck to the lads though. Just think Div 1 is out standing, Div 2&3 good battles, Div 4&5 good battles but 4 not good enough for 3 and 6 not good enough for 5 if that makes sense.

IMO, WC probably good enough to sneak into the top five, Locks not far behind. But will need to recruit to do what Heccies and Westminster have done recently.

Golden Grove, Westminster, Hectorville (and nearly brahma)...

Correct me if i'm wrong but from memory all only played 1 season in div 5 coming from div 6, are now kicking goals up higher.

So i would think that the good div 6 sides seam to 'cut the mustard' in div 5 without too much trouble.

did take elizabeth 5 years to get thru div 5..kenilworth couldnt do it..blacks have now gone down and HV need to leg it up or they will go down to..plympton couldnt escape and smithfield are rusted onto div 5..wont be no kick in the park for the 2 teams coming up..lockleys must recruit some talls or they will get boomeranged..hawks might be midfield

Its been a long time since these 2 teams have played each other for premiership points.
I'm sure theirs no love lost between them, a huge rivalry.
Throw in Smithfield, Rosewater, West Croydon & Lockleys it looks to be a very interesting comp.

(-| Yeah thanks for the spot mate :p I am happy that we have 'Exited' Div 5 though. hehe

Time for Duncs to wrap up from this thread, been a fun year and special thanks to Unknown Source for my continued entertainment, uv been a favorite of mine all year :p But in all serious good luck to all the players and sides in Div 5 next year should be another good year. For what its worth i think Plympton will finally click and take it out in 2011.

Have a great Spring/Summer Guys and Gals.. Peace Out :)

Plympton didn't come from div 6.

All my point was, in recent years 3 out of 6 clubs have passed go and collected $200.

That would suggest that Clubs have been able to leapfrog division 5.

It also suggests that once you spend a couple of years in div 5, then you're in for the long haul in that div!

Could be a case of teams hit damage control when they go down to div. 6 and start looking harder for money/ sponsors etc.
Without being derogatory, pretty sure GG, Greenies & BL all had the financial capacity to recruit, Westminster were building their club up as were Hectorville and Pulteney were fortunate to gain AFL experience which in turn made them a more attractive club to play for.
Clubs like Plympton, Rosies and Smithfield obviously don't get that person/ company that can inject some funds into them and go on huge recruiting drives, they rely on selecting the right coaches and their juniors coming through.
Being a Sports & Social Club doesn't help our cause IMO, it should be a footy club during the winter and a cricket club during the summer with each identity supporting their own sport.

Being a football club only also has it's drawbacks like not qualifying for a lot of grants because we are not a "community club". Our juniors struggle for numbers, particularly when they get to 14-17 years of age bracket, at which point clubs like Henley, Seaton and Portland take the pick of the crop and are very difficult to get back. We rely on raising a lot of money from our bar, which we dont have to share with a "sports and social" club, luckily we have a lot of pissheads. However, you are correct, we cant go on massive recruiting drives because there just isn't the cash for it.
