After watching the round 1 game between Golden Grove and Friars i can not see Blackfriars loseing a game. If Golden Grove are second it will be another premiership to the Friars. Goodluck to them to great effort

I still think Golden Grove were better than Friars....I think the next time they play, Friars might get a reality check. I'm hoping we can do the same to them!! I think anyone of Friars, GG, Valleys, or Hectorville are good enough to win it (only judging Heccies on results, as we haven't played them yet)
I'm proud of you fellas. You all kept your head on a swivel, and that's what you gotta do when you find yourself in a vicious cock fight!

You are on some good shit if you think Golden Grove were a better team that night!

hectoville were dreadful on saturday. most embarrasing loss ive been involved in at the club. not one of us came to play on the weekend. houghton weren't that good- we were just shocking! bit of a reality check for us. when we play our best footy its without doubt good enough to beat the likes of blackfriars and golden grove. hopefully we can get back on track and cement our spot in the top 3.
blackfriars looking in ominous form at the minute... will they be 18-0 at the end of the minor round???

yeah i noticed from the sidelines you blokes didn't really look very switched on.

i think golden grove will get better as the season goes on. no doubt a few of their players are first season amatuer league footy (i remember quite a few from playing with them in the underage at central districts.) and i'm sure anyone who remembers playing their first season of amatuer footy will remember that it's a bit of a step up, much different football than the junior stuff (well at least it was for me).

i'm looking forward to houghton vs. hope valley this week, i think it will be a test for us, whether we're just going to hang around near the bottom of the ladder or actually make the finals, i don't think anyone really rates us yet, which is fair enough i guess, we want to proves ourselves.

and as far as the voting out at the pub thing goes, that's all bullshit. he left in a gentlemanly like fashion.

I think what farbs ment is that the Blackfriar boys were better that night. But it was round one and word has it that Golden Grove werent at the peak of there powers then. A few running around in the 2's is what I heard. Now they are starting to get rolling, so when GG meet blacks again, it might be alot closer.

in my opinion i reckon blackfriars have top spot all but wrapped up with GG, valleys and heccies fighting for 2nd and 3rd and the double chance. That fifth spot looks to be a three way fight between west croydon, mitchell pk and houghton. but i do agree , the premiers will come from that top four.
cant wait for the game against the valleys in a couple of weeks- should be a cracker!

Tips for round 8-

Golden Grove v Lockleys- golden grove by plenty
Westminster OS v Adelaide University- westminster
Houghton Districts v Hope Valley- don't think the valleys will make the same mistake as we did, valleys by 5 goals
Mitchell Park v Blackfriars OS- blacks by ten goals
Hectorville v West Croydon- heccies back on track after last weeks disaster

I thought when playing Blackfriars early on that they were nowhere near a lower division side. I think possibly division 4 might be their limit in the near future. Pretty tough comp in div 4. Can't see anyone getting near them this year. Saw the friday night match in Round 1 between Blackfriars and Golden Grove and to me Golden Grove are nowhere near as skillful or as hard at the ball. And you can't say you weren't fired up...first match of the year, night match at home, playing the lower division's reigning premier. Thought that would have been incentive enough, perhaps not. Blackfriars to win grand final over either Golden Grove or Hope Valley by at least 7 goals...Cheers :D

I'm gonna say

Lockleys
Westminster OS
Blackfirars OS by 15 goals
West Croydon (based on heccies performance last week ;))

I didn't mean on that night Carey - what I meant was that Golden Grove were very good when we played them, and I felt they were better than Blackfriars were when we played Friars. If that makes sense!!! Of course it was pissing down when we played Friars, so will be interesting to see next time.

the boys form blacks wont be getting to far ahead of themselves and saying to go through the season undefeated is still a long way away. they defenently look the best team on a dry day by a long long way. i think they will be looking forward to going into the break undefeated as their immediate goal.

my tips
Golden Grove v Lockleys- golden grove by plenty
Westminster OS v Adelaide University- very close i think but westminster at home
Houghton Districts v Hope Valley- if its wet, very tough ground for away teams but valleys by 3
Mitchell Park v Blackfriars OS- blacks
Hectorville v West Croydon- hectorville

i always thought the most feral thing on hanson rd was the hookers untill saturday that was. west croydon football club is an absolute disgrace. typical no hope club where being hard means smacking players in the back of the head 100 metres off the ball. dead beats on the sidelines yelling out kill him players counting players going off for medical attention and actually thinking this all works in intimidating a club like ours that is better in every aspect than the west croydon inbreads. one particular incident occured when one of our 18 year olds was in the hands of our club doctor (who was in a white polo) the guy holding their team board i presume their coach was yelling at our doctor to get off the ground whilst helping the young player to his feet and trying to guide him to the boundry the west croydon member yelled at him our club doctor replied "i am the club doctor" and the west croydon person yelled back "i dont give a f*** who you are get off" absolute pits of a club. deserved everybit of the 110 point flogging in the B-Grade and 96 point thrashing of the As. There will be a less than friendly welcome to the pound in our reverse fixture later in the year. We cant wait.

If Golden Grove is there biggest threat then they would be laughing, they have them covered easily![/quote]

I wouldn't go by GG's Round 1 form. They were a completely different side when they played the valleys. I reckon the result might be a little different next time round...

I agree. Golden grove should definitely give Blackfriars a run for their money next time they play.

its funny reaidng those comments how ppl r saying that golden grove is better then blacks. does any opposition team realise that in only one game have we been full strength and that was against GG round 1 and since then we've been depleted through injury and still winning by over 10, 15 and even 20 goals. GG and hope valley have been beaitgn the same teams we have by much smaller margins and im guessing both teams r close to full strength but i may be wrong. so some1 explain to me how both those teams are meant to be better?

I'm not saying anything about us (Hope Valley). All I'm saying is that Golden Grove were very strong the night we played them, and I think will give Friars a better run next time. Will be interesting to see the result in a few weeks.

a club that is not going anywhere is always going to be like that
especially from the suburb that they reside in!!!!
Croydons problem is that every half decent player that has come through their juniors
gets on the drugs and thats the end of them!!!!
Woodcock is the only player they have produced for a few years!!!

They've been like it for years. I got knocked out playing them from a cheap shot from behind with my head over the ball. Next thing I know the trainer is standing alongside me.

As for best player, Rory Poole might have something to say about that. He was very skillful and a good athlete to boot. Should've made more of his footy IMO.
