Should be some good tests for us. Noarlunga's top 20 are playing a country league side first up, then their 20-40 players are playing our A's then the rest against the rest. Or something like that, not sure on the exact logistics. Should also be fun playing Adelaide Uni, their D grade is much vaunted and their A's made the GF in this Div last year. Can't wait!

you'll find that the uni side will have players from c-g grade in it as some of the c grade players will be in melbourne for the annual trial v melbourne uni blacks. will be a decent hitout though.
Ah ok, sounds good! and of course I meant C's not A's. We would probably struggle agaisnt the A's

Always fun playing Adelaide Uni, just about the friendliest and most relaxed footballers I have come across. I remember playing at half back and my direct opponent was chatting away about I forget what - probably political science or classic literature, only for the ball to turn over up the ground and he had to lead. Didn't stop him chatting away as we are running full pelt towards the ball!

Haha, I still hated him and tried to hurt him in the contest - as fairly as possible, but I always found that if I could befriend the opposition they wouldn't try as hard.

Worked great against the C Grade sides. Like in the above example he barely got a touch because he was too interested in chatting to me! More than one way to distract an opponent ;)

Nah, I took your message and applied my own logic and personal touch to it.

Me chatting to my opponent used to (and probably still does) drive Joey Leck up the wall. "Why are you talking to them! You have to HATE them! This is WAR! RaadiiRaaRaa"

Probably a generational thing.

I remember (going back 13 years) walking down to the back pocket as a 60kg 17 year old in my first year of A grade playing against Central United and my opponent telling me he got out of jail the day before and then giving me a punch in the guts to go with it... Sometimes talking to your opponent has the desired effect. :D

You have to pick your targets. When I was younger and playing on an older type bloke I would often ask for advice/tips or their opinion on how I was going. It pandered to their ego and I can guarantee they never went in as hard or with as much energy as if were some bloke their age who had ribbed them 5 minutes earlier.

... or maybe you're just not as personable as I am :P

Was told they have not got a coach for the fourth side and a lot of the older players have retired, can anybody from the gullies confirm this. Maybe they will have to talk club legend in Peter Martin to coach again, he always seem to take it on when they need him.

I heard from my mate he is ass coach of the d grade the head coach is Phil verall

Does that mean lawny will be captain?

Proposed fixtures has no Modbury or Wingfield in Div 7 and North Pines as a definate. We open our campaign against my old team Ingle Farm, gonna be a bit weird playing them.

It did not look good for Nth Pines a few weeks ago but from what I have been told they have done some heavy recruiting in the last few weeks and numbers are up. You would want to see a large increase in names going to Nth Pines over the coming weeks in the SAAFL news or questions about numbers will be raised again.
