Not trying to have a go, but I would have thought if you were an emerging club or one going through hard times, paying players would only hide the real issues, such as junior development, player retention, and attracting good club men?

That's why we have gone down the path of rewarding the entire playing group for their commitment by significantly increasing the cash given for best player awards and by giving drink cards to A-Grade players for each win. It gives something back to the club men and hopefully helps with player retention. It's probably not going to pull gun players from other clubs, but it's a fair system that we can try and build on.

Had a rough day Bigshow? chill out mate not having a crack at North Pines in anyway merely stated no other clubs besides yourself or Ovingham have really stated on here how their numbers are looking or talked about new recruits.

It's your perogative to do so just like i choose not to for St Paul's.
Nah buddy just trying to bait ya to try and get some info from you about St Pauls. Talk has been pretty slow on here about numbers from other clubs etc.
 no worries mate...we haven't started training yet so I can't tell you how many we've had on the track but we've had a couple of get togethers since seasons end and numbers have been healthy...can confirm we've only lost 1 player from last season who has left for a change of scenery at a higher grade.

He would be a welcome recruit to any div 7 side. Like I said was just a rumour that I heard recently so not sure how correct it is.

Any word on whether St Pauls have come to a decision on the Mawson Lakes move?

St Paul's have decided to move down to Mawson Lakes and make it our new home for 2009 and hopefully beyond...club had a meeting last week which involved all the players and committee and it was unanimously agreed upon that we head down there in order for us to grow as a footy club.

Full clubroom facilities are now available to us and not to mention the benefit of playing on a lush surface as compared to the concrete we have been playing on.....we will hopefully sign the lease in the next week or so.

We see Mawson Lakes as an untapped resource in regards to football and hopefully we can set up a strong base in the community.

Good move in terms of getting a good oval and facilities. Was there a concern about loss of club identity maybe? I know that Nth Pines struggle with sponsorship etc for that reason, nobody really knows where Nth Pines is. Clubs that are not named after there suburb can find it difficult. While you were playing out of St Pauls College you at least had that identity and people knew where you were.
Mawson Lakes is untapped yes but now you are competing with local and established clubs for recruits such as Pooraka and Salisbury West.

Name change and creating a new identity was discussed but we do not want to change our name or our affiliation with the school....the school has been great to us but we feel if we are to survive and grow the move needed to be made....we will still hope to have a level of involvement with the school.

We've touched based with a few of the local businesses already and sponsorship is looking very bright as we now have clubrooms, a website, permanent benches, scoreboard and a ground we can advertise on as opposed to a school where you are very limited.

I look at Rostrevor they play at Campbelltown but people know where they are? And yes Pooraka and Salisbury West are in the same sort of area and we will be competiting with them for players but when Golden Grove (similar to Mawson Lakes) came in they had to compete with some powerhouses in TTG and Modbury and they are going great guns now.

We're not saying this will turn the club around next year this decision was based on the future.

"Mawson Lakes Footy Club" - I can see it within 5 years..

Great positive move for the club though. What does the Highlander think of this?

Highlander will still be onboard as our major sponsor (hopefully 8-[ ) as we'll still be heading their after our away games plus we'll more than likely buy our alcohol from them also.
