Certainly not, a possible point for discussion.

Ace in the post above you have FC as an ambassador/ess for the Northgate Rams. so is it a point for discussion or a done deal? PS FC, i don't see a name change as something small or petty.

Moz, you have misinterpreted my post which was said in jest, just as the the ex-players/life members misinterpreted a casual discussion held over a beer.

Nothing could be further from the truth that it's a 'done deal', in fact, to be honest a couple of us are at the point where we couldn't care less.

We just want to make people aware, including the 40 thousand horseman (ex players/officials) that are coming to ensure the club doesn't change anything, that if new blood is not brought into the joint to takeover from the current people and give the membership a boost, it will fallover.

It's as simple as that, embrace the new area around us, it's the biggest lifeline any suburb could ever be granted, give the kids a chance to go through their footy lives without carrying the baggage created by the indiscretions of past representatives of the club. If the Western Bulldogs and others can do it successfully, why is it that those who remain can dictate to the future people within the club what they should/should not do?

That is the question???

PS There is no such thing in life as a "done deal" at Gepps Cross Footy Club, ask Smithy.

What about Ramsgate North, they could get a good sponsor out of it.

Some people, even moderators, just can't help themselves, can they LM.

No, it's still the silly season, apparently :)

I refer to the Sunday Mail Bec,Ben & Buzz column page 50, regarding some details contained within the article.

There is an informal meeting next Sunday morning (Jan 18 @ 10.00am) not Saturday evening as written.

It is a discussion only, nothing else. If the idea is to go any further, a Special General meeting would need to be called further down the track with at least 14 days notice given.

have most div 1 sides started training again? Districts dont start till the 27th jan which i think is not quite soon enough. Guess im not the coach tho. Dont think they have many new recruits either. But before xmas they were getting 60 to training, interesting to see if they get that many when they start again.

yep the 2 guys that are putting the D grade together i believe are presenting it to the committee next Tuesday, i know i few committee members arent keen, they think subs wont be paid etc. But the more players they more spent over the bar! Think it will go ahead.

you might have a few blokes not pay subs
but u r right 1eyed, more blokes means a bigger taking over the bar, which in the end would cover the non payed subs!!
and if there are that many wanting to play
just put the old no pay no play rule into action!

One very big hurdle using that theory;

No pay, no play and if you stick to the policy it can mean forfeits occur, the SAAFL fines the club $200 for every forfeit. Expensive and guys have got to buy a lot of beer to cover a few of them.
If you don't stick to the policy, the players get wind of it and don't pay, you're still up sh*t creek.

Personal opinion, it's not worth the headache unless you have the quality of people.

i know districts dont like to use the no pay no play rule, hopefully they pay up. They may have to collect $10 before every match something along those lines. And u would hope that the D's watch the A's etc and hang around the club.

last year districts were struggling to fill their third side - especially later in the year when finals out of question - that's the time when enthusiasm is really tested.
would lie to see it but have my doubts based on 2008.

thats a fair point finn and something that they will seriously have to look at
if the C's and D's are not gonna play finals and are losing every week
will all these blokes hang around??

Incorrect info "Cockeyed" the league only fines you $200 if you forfeit after 9am on the friday preceding the match as per page 29 of the 2008 handbook under Fines.

After 3 forfeits in a season you are automatically withdrawn from that grade for the rest of the season

In season 2008 if you withdrew a team after 22/2 before the season began you were fined $500

The "SHADIAC IRELAND TRIP FUND" is well supported every year.

I would have thought most forfeits would be notified after that time anyway , even as late as Sat morning

After 3 forfeits in a season you are automatically withdrawn from that grade for the rest of the season/quote...

this is also not correct, youll find the wording of the rule is something like ...if you forfeit 3 times we MAY not let you continue playing. this issue was brought up with saafl a couple of years ago when central united c grade forfeited three times (away games to kenilworth and flinders uni and gepps who were top at the time and belting everyone) but then were allowed to play out their last two games that were at home....if they pay the calls and fees then i guess they have to give a reasonably good reason not to allow you to play...who knows
THE NEW ERA BEGINS.....HIRD AND THOMPSON.....EX CAPTAINS EX CHAMPIONS EX.....cellent choice

Maybe Seaton should seriously consider Western Rams.
