On the Henley Fb Page

From the President

It is with disappointment that I inform Members that our newly appointed Coach, Brent Reilly has accepted a Senior Position with the Adelaide Football Club.
I know that all Members will share in this disappointment, however, we wish Brent all the very best in his new position with the Crows and thank him for the service that he provided last year to our Club.
The Henley Football Club’s football department will be meeting as a matter of urgency to determine suitable arrangements for the appointment of a new A Grade Coach.
Once that is achieved, Members will be notified accordingly of the Coaching appointment.

Awful news, condolences to his family, his TTG family and also his GG family, where he played juniors.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the Birkin family, friends and all involved with the TTG football club. Such a tragic loss of a fine young man and a reminder of how precious life can be.

I had the pleasure of live calling all of the Gullies home games and JB was an electric young Footballer with oodles of talent. He had great pace and was a genuine ball player. I did not know him well but from my interactions with JB he always impressed me and carried himself well. A fine young man has indeed been tragically lost. Bernie, Justin and other TTG staff always spoke very highly of JB and held him in high regard. I remember Scott Dirreen saying to me before the PNU v TTG game that we would need to keep a very close eye on Birkin. It's fair to say team mates and opposition alike all rated his footballing talents.

Vale Jon Birkin

3 big ins to be announced by one of the Div 1 power houses. I wish I could say who but will lose friends if I do.

I reckon the rest of the comp need to recruit and work hard to bridge the gap with the Creative book keeping, prodigy listening premiers.

Had a very interesting trip to Melbourne the other day.
Spoke to a couple of my sons mates out of the the VFL and they informed me of there movements to a div 1 club.
Here for work for at least 2 years. Looking like bringing a couple of mates out of the sanfl back to there home club.
Should shake the Shi? Out of the comp.

The SANFL standard continues to drop while Ammos standard continues to rise.

This has been said for the last 10-15 years. There is still a 20 goal gap between top tier div 1 and top tier sanfl.
