Div1 would be experimental and whilst there would be benefits these blokes are elite athletes and would be going up against blokes who are just amateurs and physically would destroy SAAFL sides.

Agreed

I heard somewhere that the NEAFL from next year will have the Swans, GWS, Lions & Suns reserves teams, a team from Darwin & then rest are the semi professional clubs from Sydney, Brisbane & Southport from Surfers. I think it was Andrew Jarman on triple m that said it. So the 2 Adelaide teams are the only teams not to have reserved sides playing in the next level down from the AFL, if they don't get into the SANFL.

Sydney, GWS, GC and Lions already have reserves teams in NEAFL but to cut down on travel there are 2 conferences

So GWS & Gold Coast are ahead of the Crows & Power in regards to already having reserve sides. Probably not the forum for this but I sent an email to all non Victorian sides to set up their own reserves comp by playing each other twice (1 home 1 away) which would mean only travelling interstate 6 times. Port were the only club to reply.
