Was interesting to see none of our permits got accepted - and who was one person who helped decide? Hmmm, and which team is our B grade playing this week....?

Tom Matoga - 4 x B grade in a row, then 4 x A grade in a row to help cover our injuries in the A's. Now why wouldn't that one be accepted?? He's played half and half and would have played more B grade had we not been hit so hard with injuries.

Why even have a permit system when a coach from the club you're playing helps decide if it goes through or not...?????

unless you have seen the other favourites play 18 matches this yr, i dont think you can claim a player to be a dead set certainty. a lesson the parolowie boys had to learn last year with boothey not winning...

Don't think you can complain about that one too much especially if played A's the last 4 weeks, I know injuries hit sides hard but you can't use hypotheticals to get a bloke over the line for finals seeing he played half, half for the year.

yeah i know its his opinion and its my opinion that you cant say someone is a dead set certainty to win while only watching players from other teams place twice.

The permit system is sh*t LMA, in 2007 I played 14 B Grade games and the last 3 A grade games to cover injuries and ended up playing the elimination and semi's in the A's to cover more injuries......the club put a permit for me to play b's the next week and it was disallowed, id played more than 70% of my games that year in the 2's....felt that i was more a b grader than an a grader....ruling is very grey imo

I was in the exact same boat in 2005 i think it was. I played every game in the B grade except the last 3 of the season where i came into the A grade due to injuries. I then played the first 2 finals in the A grade and they got knocked out and the B grade went on to make the GF. The club applied for a permit but it was not approved even though i had played majority of the season in the B grade.

I was gutted that season as i was missing out on the opportunity to play in a GF in my first senior season, but the B grade didnt win the GF anyway

agree with you on the major round eligibility. a year at uni studying logic would help with all the 'if then else' parts of this rule.
the bit you were done by i think was once you have played two major round matches for the higher team then all bets are off and you have to sit out. this would happen even if you played 18 minor round b gr games and then two a gr finals according to the letter of the law.

Interesting to see Rolla in there, being really nice to the umps must of actually got him somewhere. ;)

Wattsy only he played a handfull of games, was playing on one leg in pretty much all of them and still managed to get a mention, what a gun. Can't wait until he gets his knee surgury done, it's going to be awsome with both him and Eagles running a muck for us next year.

My tips-

Brahma Lodge v Elizabeth- Should be too strong at home, but if Elizabeth bring their A game to the table we could be in for an upset. Huge batlle in the ruck with Halliday and Bellman going toe to toe and their battle might determine the outcome of the game.

Rosewater v Plympton- I'll be going down to watch tomorrow and do expect Rossies to win at home. They are a far better team at home and with Rumbelow down back, Horsell in the middle, Mattner and Matz up forward they look to have the advantage. The only that would worry them is how they're going to control Plympton's forward line with Hibbard, Smith and Van Der Haak all floating around down there, but on Rossies oval they might not have the room and space they need to be effictive. Only time will tell.

He was/still is (?) on the Magpies reserves list and has played U/19s there. He was asked to go out and train with them and possibly play a game earlier in the year, but doesn't want anything to do with them anymore. He also played Eagles juniors before switching to Port.

There's 37 names. The ones in blue would have to be certainties IMO. Bugger trying to put them into positions. Have I missed anyone who is worthy? 1st Ruck will be interesting with quite a few candidates, the forwards kind of take care of themselves. Defenders perhaps the hardest to pick

very very very tough 2 do but wouldve thought these 3 blokes would all b half a chance as well Deer(ply) Richter(hv) Wooton(hec) and these 2 almost certainties hickey(bl) matz(rose) any1 else got any thoughts???

dont mean 2 brag boys but all 5 in their top 4!! cannot believe steve fairhurst isnt in the umpires top 4 but they r watching another game!!

Too good a footballer imo to be playing D5.....Bit like duggy for us really.....but not going to complain if they play for your club!

Sorry mate still think you can't argue with your case here either, the Amateur league are not to know who's injured or who's working etc, they can only go by the team sheets from the previously week and by the rules both decisions are the right ones. Good to see that your a good clubman though, alot of people would of put themselves first by not stepping up to play higher when the club needs them to.

yeah i have to agree, if they allowed it for one person. it opens the flood gates for every one to use the old injury excuse to allow players to play lower... unfortunite as it is, i think it's a fair call... all club have injuries... i personally think people wood take advantage of the rule if it came in...
