I'm wasnt aware that one of our guys came 4th??

Didnt we get 2 and 1 votes for that last game? I know it doesnt seem right but its the umpires call...

I'm pretty sure there was another BL player on the leaderboard towards the end, could be wrong though. Yeah you got 2 and 1 in Round 18 and lost by 41 points!! Our full forward kicked 6 goals (probably the difference between the two sides) and didn't get a vote. Mind you, he didn't get any votes for the whole year and finished with 67 goals.

Interesting Demon... it may have actually been the cricket club training. Or it may have just been the 3 or 4 blokes having a light run to restore their bodies for our B&F tonight followed by the footy trip next weekend.

For the record, the cricket club and WOS get on just fine

I reckon a system where by opposition coaches pick the best players would be much fairer and accurate than the umpires doing it.

Example:
HV v WOS
Paul Barber picks his 2 best HV players
Charlie Wintle picks his 2 best WOS players

Let's say WOS wins the game:
WOS player 4 votes
WOS player 3 votes
HV player 2 votes
HV player 1 vote

Nothing against Luke, but that's even more f*cked. I shouldn't be surprised though :?

Forwards get votes, Starry got 15 and beat Clint who only got 10. Go figure.

Late high tackle says it all
I probably agree with you though.
Im still amazed that a guy can be red carded, a free kick awarded but no 25m penalty?
was on other side of oval didnt really see it but from what every1 said was just unlucky, terrible umpiring display all day. Sent off our last yr B's B&f for nearly the whole match, he shold never be allowed to ump again. Both umps very soft thought it dampened the game. In theory those were the 13th best lot of umps in the saafl.

IMO i think 2 many umpires want 2 make an influence on the game
the only thing more ridiculous than stef gettin sent off is sayin the ump shouldnt be allowed to ump again. reckon the ump mita got influenced by the hv supporters.

would like to kno who would wanna train at WOS a few days afta a gf win :?
HB3 you usually talk sense but u have let urself down
How can a "late, high tackle" at CHF be influenced by HV supporters get a grip
HV supporters were on the hill near the scoreboard and if anything the incident took place towards the other side of the ground
your right, incident was on the far side of the oval. all the A graders were near to the incident tho i thought :? i reckon most umps get influenced by crowds in general. from afl to saafl

The difference is that defenders don't normally complain about it.

I agree that it didn't deserve a send off, but I reckon the umpires would have been instructed to set the tone ealry in ALL the grand finals after some shockers in recent years. It was high, it was late and he had no reason whatsoever to do it. We also should have received a 25m penalty, but the umpire said that we received an F.A.D and that was where we took the kick from. The ball went about 10 metres sideways from the kick. What advantage was that??

I think both umpires did an OK job. They might have been a bit ticky touch, but they were consistent all day and that's all you can really ask for at this level. To say he should never umpire again BS is just ridiculous

the tribunal is next week for him, they were definatley consistent and touchy. I know it hard to umpire, had to umpire a couple of friendlys this year, but i can understand making the wrong decision when in play. But when sending ppl off you can think about it, the thing that piss me off is andrews basically missed out on playing most of the GF. it hard enough to make a gf then the ump takes it away from him. he also missed out on playing a gf 2 years ago aswell when he got a permit from the saafl then they took it away from him

I heard along the grapevine that HV are having they're footy trip to Mount Gambier.

Surely you boys won't be there AFL Grand Final weekend or will the WOS v HV rematch come well before the 2009 schedule is even thought of?

not true!! i got 1 vote this year playing from half back flank, didnt spend much time in the backline thou that match  even got 2 behinds that match. At least when you play back lines if you make a mistake and the get a goal you dont have to worry about the 2nd effort. Saying that i dont know if 2nd effort is in a fwd vocabulary unless they are on 99 goals...
