I can answer for me
1 - I've been involved at the Blacks for twenty years - playing, coaching and on the committee
2 - It doesn't what we say, you've formed your opinion
3 - Nope, they (Blacks130) play much higher than that.

Callum Rohde came out with a bunch of other Eudunda players some of which had previously played at the Blacks at high and low level. Travel was getting too much.
Andrew McIntyre studies at Adelaide and has friends at the club and can't always train.

People do play for reasons other than money you know - like Luke McEntee. The Blacks do have a large player base which allows for networks to be developed.

But this is a debate for elsewhere.

"You got it in one Bruno"!!!!

Playing for Uni is a good career and it does pay well not now but later

Quite a few players back in the 80's who wouldn't have made it thru Uni until they played for them. They bragged about it out on the field and at work!!!

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

I Will tar and feather myself if Uni don't pay players.

Anyhow, Lots of bloody upset on saturday. Makes for an exciting year when predictions/early indications go awry like that.

Interesting on Pooraka from the weekend. their team-sheet read very similar to last year...yet they were no-where near last years standards...whats happened? The two big outs I spotted were their chb (coghill i think?) and Derham (f/f). are there others? Thought they might be the big improvers this years - they'd wanna turn it around quick!

They haven't widened Haslam oval by any chance have they??

2 comments here:

1) No Coghill - no Pooraka (Big call, I know)

2) LOL @ Haslam Oval - maybe they finally cut back the tree that overhangs the wing, hence giving the impression of a wider oval

Still a big rectangle. Good surface though, especially now before the rain comes. Go through the corridor at Haslam Oval - only way home. No need to see the trees on that oval and going wide at Haslam, allows them to run.

Pooraka has lost Coghill (ret), Greaves(ret), Ty Kirkwood( Moved for work), Mark Watts(ret), Derham ($), Lovell(INJ) and Adams (Inj)off the top of my head, there may be a couple of others . Losing 7 of the best 10 playes would hurt most sides.

When is this event taking place turbo? I'm sure many a Uni player would like to help. :)

Haslam Oval has to be one of the hardest grounds to play on the amateur league - everything about it seems to be off kilter and designed to throw people off their games - and pembroke play it very well.

Well the great man and Div 1 medal winner Jamie Sibbick told me that he even had to supply his own tape to be strapped, then I can guarantee no one gets paid cash to play

Uni dont pay, end of story - we all have to get over the fact that they have a great tradition and ethos

In fact if they did pay they would still be in Div 1

If they could win prelim finals they would be in Div 1. Have had real good chances to go up the last two seasons, and probably should have (2010 especially)

On front page of "footy budget" say Kilburn 0-4, 0 pts, fined $3000. Of course playing salisbury this week. Would say they will be a little upset. Should be interesting game, GF replay from Div 4 last year.
