You don't have to jump the creek anymore and it only gets that foggy at training these days. It still gets boggy a couple of games a year and there's still a variety of farm animals about the place, as well as the odd native one.

1985 (but dont tell anyone....  )

Actually I worked out that it was 1982 - In the last match, I stood your Ruck Rover who went on to win the medal that year - he was too good for A7 - I kept him to a couple of kicks only and we beat you even though you were well above us on the table. He probably wore contacts and they fogged over. The changerooms were like the BBQ pavillions at National Park - very rustic. :D

Wow 26 years ago - I would imagine that they have upgraded the facilities since then - Quichey what are the facilities like up there as I might go up and have a look when you play Brahma Lodge so I can heckle Browny

The Heccies lads have been pretty quite on the home-front. What's the go lads? Phil to play one more year, Bentley to re-sign, any new recruits (I've heard of a couple that might be headed your way)???

Bentley to play again and i'd say if Phil does play it'll be in the magoos. Not going to mention any recruits on here. Not really too worried about what the other teams are doing either, but it does make for some interesting reading. We know within ourselves we have the cattle to match it with the best and have proved it by beating the previous two premiers comfortably during the minor rounds. We are just focussing on being more consistent. If we get that right, there is no reason for us to be playing in div 6 another year.

No good beating them in the minor round... :?

1982 would be correct Jimmy. Houghton Football Club was formed early in the century and played in several associations. However, in 1980 the club merged with Paracombe to form Para-Houghton, which is who you would've played against. 1982 was the last year they played as a club as apparently they had a shortage of players. However, the only affiliation they have with the current Houghton Districts Football Club is by name and location as, by pure chance, the following year a bunch of mates got together to form the Banksia Park Old Scholars.

BPOS played at the high school oval from 1983-1985. In 1986 they moved to the Houghton Memorial Oval and have been there ever since, however, at the end of 1994 they changed their named from BPOS to Houghton Districts to recognise its association with the area.

The changerooms are still a little rustic, although there has probably been a heap of work done to them by the lads over the years since you last used them. Still waiting on the council to actually do something about their development proposals

You get changed in a tent. We've dug a trench behind it for a piss. And there's a bucket of water to wash yourself down with after the game.

Just kidding. The changerooms are fine, but a little small. The clubroom is where the frivolity is at and we promise to get you bloody loose

Electricity will be fed from the power generated by the warm-up bikes.

A mate of mine on Salisbury Council just told me that they are about to start work on 4 new light towers at Brahma Lodge Oval
Browny can you confirm - where did you get the money for it?

You sure they are getting 4 - with all the player payments they will only be able to afford 2  sounds a bit like what Paralowie did last year 8)

Hey Browny, is it true that an air-conditioning mob that used to sponsor an SANFL club is now your major sponsor.

The key is to keep a core group together and whatever the money being forked out must be self generating so that it continues on a yearly basis
Every club will lose about 5 from the previous year - you only have to look at all premiership sides - never the same even if you go back to back
Having said all that I am sure The Lodge will be financial as I hear Browny just won X-Lotto and they are now paying everyone $1000 a game :D
Bit different up higher mate, the gaps between the divisions get bigger.
