Gotta agree with you there carey, BL have been like yo-yo's last 4-5yrs. One yr have a good side with recruit$, next yr they all nick off and BL are back to square one.

I remember umpiring BL v Greenacres in 2004 and Jamie Clancey was playing for Lodge. I told a Norwood mate that they should have a look at him as he was a class above the rest - he is now playing D2 into D1 which supports your comment

It would be interesting to know what everything thinks this bunch of players are getting paid? No-one on here knows thats for sure so it would be pure speculation. Its funny to see this same topic come up time and time again.

There a lot of Yo Yo Clubs - I can think of Walkerville & Salisbury as examples
The key is to keep a core group together and whatever the money being forked out must be self generating so that it continues on a yearly basis
Every club will lose about 5 from the previous year - you only have to look at all premiership sides - never the same even if you go back to back
Having said all that I am sure The Lodge will be financial as I hear Browny just won X-Lotto and they are now paying everyone $1000 a game :D

Enough of Brahma Lodge.

The Heccies lads have been pretty quite on the home-front. What's the go lads? Phil to play one more year, Bentley to re-sign, any new recruits (I've heard of a couple that might be headed your way)???

Quichey

Are you still playing in that quarry up there?

So many memories:

1. Jumping the creek to get to the oval
2. So foggy you couldn't see past centre - it was eerie watching players and a ball emerging from the fog
3. The local farmer letting the chooks out on the field at 3/4 time because we had scubbed up the mud
4. Half the side travelling up in a Commer van and grabbing bottles of bundy and port for the trip home because we were all frozen

LMAO

When was that Jimmy? Some time ago I presume.

You don't have to jump the creek anymore and it only gets that foggy at training these days. It still gets boggy a couple of games a year and there's still a variety of farm animals about the place, as well as the odd native one.

The chooks are a half time entertainment favourite at the hollow... Unfotunately they don't seem to get the hint to get off the ground for the 2nd half though!

Bentley to play again and i'd say if Phil does play it'll be in the magoos. Not going to mention any recruits on here. Not really too worried about what the other teams are doing either, but it does make for some interesting reading. We know within ourselves we have the cattle to match it with the best and have proved it by beating the previous two premiers comfortably during the minor rounds. We are just focussing on being more consistent. If we get that right, there is no reason for us to be playing in div 6 another year.

Actually I worked out that it was 1982 - In the last match, I stood your Ruck Rover who went on to win the medal that year - he was too good for A7 - I kept him to a couple of kicks only and we beat you even though you were well above us on the table. He probably wore contacts and they fogged over. The changerooms were like the BBQ pavillions at National Park - very rustic. :D
