Well done to Heccies for making the A grade grand final...its going to be a cracker of a match!
It's funny you say that - even though I didn't see the umpiring - some would call it over officiated and some would say that they're just picking up stuff that crappy div 6 umps dont.
Some say potato, some say potato
I like the way MOST div 6 umpires officiate during the season. They allow play to flow and not become stop start. Most umpires at the div 6 level have played the game before and have a good understanding of the game. I would hope that the umpires for next week GF don't try and "stamp there authority" on the game early. I just hope that let the game flow and pay the major free kicks. Be consistent all day and let the game take care of its self.
Also congrats to Hectorville on a fantastic win yesterday. It was one of those games that you leave as a neutral observer and feel sorry for the losing side. I thought trinity were "allright" all day but heccies just did everything right at the right time to get the win.
Any idea's as to where the GF will be played. Will be a cracke of a game.

On another note, I must say after being told before the game today we had Div 1 umpires that I feel sorry for the boys who play up at that level each week. I thought the umpiring standard was supposed to get better as you move up the divisions???. They were nothing short of shocking today and nearly cost us the game with stupid over officiating and trying to find free kicks. Not good enough SAAFL when so much is at stake.
The Div 6 standard of most players on Saturday were reckless & simply had no idea of the rule’s. I heard one player yell out to the umpire this isn’t AFL Football mate, when a player was pin for holding the ball for falling to his knees & DRAGGING the ball in & then sitting on it without the intention of knocking it out.
If you call pushing in the back to mark the ball, protecting the head, Hanging onto an opponent to get front position, swearing over umpiring the game maybe you should request your minor round division 6 umpires because I thought the umpires you had weren’t that bad. They kept up with the play got side on to the play to see the free’s and what Footy chick said earlier was spot on.
“ It's funny you say that - even though I didn't see the umpiring - some would call it over officiated and some would say that they're just picking up stuff that crappy div 6 umps dont.”
When a umpire calls a player back & tell’s him 3 times & he still is over the mark, he knows very well where his opponent has marked it & still they choose to run over the line.
Another point HeaveHo said – (Well said)
“But overall i thought they did a reasonable job. I guess people are bringing up the over umpiring for the fact there were frees that were paid for defenders holding off the ball / shepherding out illegally which would never been paid by minor round umpires. but the ones paid were definately there. Lets just hope that they dont play a part in the out come of saturdays game. Good luck to both sides”
This was my 5th game I saw of either side during the year & I would have those umpires any day over some of the guys we have had during the year. Atleast they protected the ball carrier.
Good Luck to Hectorville on Saturday considering trinity blow it on Saturday & should have won.

I thought the umps were good saturday and would be very happy to have them every week, they had control and did a good job. What FC said is 100% on the mark.
I disagree that div 6 players saturday were reckless & had no idea, when you have umps that dont have a clue most weeks it is hard for some players even supporters to ajust, Most teams have young lads that have only ever played with crappy Div 6 umps so for them good umpiring and some rules they wouldnt have a clue about and wouldnt have ever been pulled up for them before.
2 great games of footy were played on saturday at Trinity, Trinity are very disappointed to not come away with either of the wins but the club is very proud of what the TOS boys have achieved this year. Congratulations to both CLG and to Heccies, Heccies proved that no game is over until the final siren. Good luck to all Div 6 teams in the GF this week and best of luck to BL and Heccies next year in Div 5

Who do people think will win the game?
Who are the players from each team that can win the game?
Are people going to the game? What sort of game do people think it will be? 10 goals for the whole game or 30 goal shoot out?

i would say BL will have the crowd advantage on sat. 5mins away from BL and about 30ish mins from heccies. still expect a lot of ppl from heccies considering the numbers we had out on sat. i thought saafl tried to place the gf in the middle of the two teams. i know they have to accomadate for the other matches for the higher divs but salisbury is further away from heccies compared to BL. the ground size is familar to heccies tho so it isnt all bad

Brahma will have spectators from Eastern Park, Angle Vale, Smithfield and Two Wells as interested observers.
