Not talking it up as there is nothing to be gained from being a January hero. I think Glenunga and Mawson Lakes and to a slightly lesser extent Ingle Farm are still the pre-season favourites. We could also benefit quite greatly from a big-bodied, talented, booming left footer, full forward with a surname starting with B - know anyone fitting that description?

If Batesy has returned I reckon those odds of 51/1 has all of a sudden dropped dramatically!

If Damien Bates has returned from Murrayville to Mitchell Park, there is another 100 goal a season Div 7 player. If he plays the full year, Mitchell Park WILL be Top 3 IMO.

bloke is a gun but will suit up for murrayville this year.

or will he

we fight as one
we win and lose as one

Mawson Lakes Football Club's long awaited Pre Season kicks off tomorrow night 6.15pm at Mawson Lakes Hotel Oval (Cnr Mawson Lakes Blvd & Main North Road) and will be both Tuesdays and Thursday nights a week thereafter.

All new players welcome...we'll try and squeeze you in under the points we have left somehow ;) :D

That would be Damien I think, played at Salisbury West last year. Will be a very good player in Div 7, similar style to his brother but not quite on the same level.

Glenunga's B grade will be awesome this year. With all their allocated points used up each week the old B grade at Glenunga is going to get a strong 'Top Up' from the A's. How many recruits will play B grade out at Glenunga due to a 'Full House' particularly early when there are no injuries.

If you can name me the guys that add up to 15 points I'll give you a gold star Jugs. Guess what, you won't be able to :P

So many rumours....I can categorically tell you that not every player that has been mentioned as "going to Glenunga" is in fact coming!!

I'm not very good at Maths so let's see how we go

Nurton, Karvelis, Foley, Fuller, 2 X Buss @ 2 points each
Bourke, 2 X Smiths, Roberts, Newchurch @ 1 point each

That's all I've heard of. Do I get a gold star?

A decent effort, but no gold star :P

As I said, not all people rumoured to be coming to Glenunga are in fact coming. 2 of those players mentioned current decision is they will not be at Glenunga.

Also my understanding is still that all those people you have listed as 1 point are in fact 0. I am amazed that there is still no certainty amongst the SAAFL community with regard to this though. This interpretation seems to have changed a few times and I would not be surprised if I am ill informed. Even then, not 15 points I assure you :P (unless more arrivals)

PD I think you will find players that have existing points will drop one point for this season.

From the SAAFL website:
As indicated earlier ALL EXISTING players registered at your club who currently have a “Player Point Rating” of one (1) or above will automatically drop one (1) point for the 2011 season. (ie. John Smith transferred from SAAFL club A to SAAFL club B in March 2010 and was allocated one point. If John Smith continues to play with SAAFL Club B during 2011 he will automatically drop to zero points)

Yeah so my understanding of that is that all SAAFL to SAAFL transfers early 2010 were allocated 1 point. all drop to 0. Only those outside of the SAAFL were recruited with more than 1 point? There still seems to be two schools of thought on the interpretation amongst the community though and I would love clarification.

Not sure if true or not, but he latst our club heard was that players transferred in 2010 will attract the same amount of points as in 2011 but will be -1 for this year. Meaning tansfers div 1-3 - 3 points 2010 - 2 points 2011 div 4-7 - 2 points 2010 - 1 point 2011. Can anyone confirm or deny?

How old is that document?? We have been told that it was voted against and will revert to the way I described a few posts ago. As I said I may be wrong but that is the latest I have heard from our club officials

That document is dated 12th November 2010. Its the only bit of info available on the website but can be interpretated in different ways. The way I read it was that the clubs were voting on whether or not to keep that system for 2011? As we know clubs have voted that in 2011 div 1-3 players are 3 points and the rest 2 points but does this change what was allocated in 2010?

As I said Bigshow, I stand to be corrected but we were told that document had changed. IMO I believe the league are dragging there feet with the issue. I know for fact at least 1 other league sent out documents to all clubs stating what there carry over points were for 2011 back late last year.

Just spoke to SAAFL and they have confirmed all saafl to saafl recruits from last season 2010 were worth 1 point so effectively will be worth 0 this year if they're still on your books.....amazing how nobody is still on the same page only a couple months out from the season.

Other leagues are as in the APPS guidelines eg. SFL was 3 less the 1 for the year makes it 2 this year.

But it's worth checking which list of points you have as some leagues values were changed from last year to this year Mallee was 2 last year but is 3 this year.
