I reckon the 2 teams will end up playing each other in the near future anyway, but for points... :D
I reckon people wld pay money to watch Portland and districts whack the snot out of each other. Definately would be one of the most intense trials in each clubs history if it did happen. Both clubs would want to prove who's the better club.
Districts would absolute belt Portland off the park!! It would be so one sided the magoos would play the second half anfd they would still win.

Not sure if this is a joke or not but now way would Districts B's beat Portland A's

A trial might determine who has the better team not the better club because im pretty certain Portland is a better club than Districts regardless of how good their team is.

I certainly would. It would be a great match to watch and would be even better if Portland were to come out on top. There would be a fair few people from the Peninsula that would love to see Districts get the living snot belted out of them, especially by another team from our area, regardless of it's your club or not.

Tall Poppy Syndrome. Perhaps a FA Cup style comp is in order to settle the Pride of The Peninsula

I just think its due to a few things mate. Ever since i can remember (in juniors through to17's) Pt Districts were the team you knew you were either going to get a pasting from or it was going to be a hard slog if you thought you had a chance. I have not played them since 17's but have always heard and read what they were doing etc. You could say the same with Ramblers (not anymore but), North Havene etc. Its just that 10km circle we all live in that creates that thing we call lovely banter and a small amount of hatred for our respective sides. Its good for our comps. I would love to see the day our sides front up again. Just from a perspective it would be a huge advantage to see where we are at as a side and to get a taste of where we are heading (yes i have some optimism and faith). Apart from that i guess it could be layed out that our new coach has come from a distgruntled background with Distrcts and that adds to the drama. I will say now that it is a handy inclusion with what our club has worked on so far!

I remember Pt Districts playing an undermanned team from deep in the northern suburbs one sunday afternoon in the u/17s and I can say it wasn't the districts lads dishing it out by no means.

Anyway, are Portland really everyones favourites to play in a gf this season? Tough div but well done!

Where do we find all the clearances for the saafl. Would be interesting to see who has left and who each club has picked up considering all the rumours floating around. And also with the points system, can clubs fit them into their side...

FS you have been on this site long enough to know the amount of smoke screens that go up at this time of year everyone trying to put the pressure on other clubs. In all honesty Flinders Park would have to be the side to beat at the stage of the year with just about every other club chasing them, i dont know how we can be the favourites when we have lost 4 starting A graders from last year (2 of them being in our top 5 B&F last year) dont get me wrong i hope what people are saying is correct and we are the side to beat but at this stage i dont think thats the case but am happy to be proven wrong

Disagree somewhat. Flinders park are without a doubt up there in everyones mind, but Portland IMO are the side to beat, A grade departures or not. A Few good inlcusions, a good coach, and good form from last season (culminating in a prelim final loss to the eventual premiers) all suggest that anything less then a GF appearance and subsequent promotion would be a disappointing season. I fail to see how your expectations could be any lower then that? (obviously from an outsiders perspective).

I was speaking to someone from Flinders Park last weekend and they have had to turn players away due to the points system so they must have a few confirmed recruits

Seagull McAdam is stepping up to fill the void I believe

Also Big Coppo has retired I think but they have found an excellent bucket of sand that will fill the void nicely
