Doesn't seem like the actions of a "good bloke".

10 seems to be consistent with other penalties

Imo though 8-10 is not proven to be a deterrent though

Pretty good deterrent for those who genuinely want to play and do the right things.

Don’t care about the constant talk - some people deserve a second chance.

Except it's apparently not? It clearly deterred nothing in this case.

Newsflash for everyone at home. Deterrence doesn’t work.

Unassuming guy that no one has even heard of, let alone have any prior form, does a stupid thing and gets 10 games - I'd say that the prospect of him never playing in Adelaide again is deterrent enough if it was indeed out of character.

Shock horror, team signs players from Salisbury West and has a guy king hitting someone that year. Out of character or not, you punch someone like that you should be finding a new sport. I don’t think people realise you can kill someone with one punch, effect the rest of their life, anything. You do that off the field and you are looking at court, possible jail etc.

WTF man haha! That’s a pretty ordinary comment - Bennett has played at Mawson Lakes for years, and cricket at Parafield Gardens - with guys who play(ed) footy at Salis West.

Straight out rude and unfair to try and draw a line to SWFC for this

I thought he came from Para Hills?

The rest of your post makes a point though. Is it time for the league to be able to just pull a blokes registration if the tribunal doesn’t do it for them if they commit an offense like this ?

Well why does a guy hit someone like this? If it’s so out of character? To Drag SWFC might be over the top but what causes a guy to randomly just king hit a bloke. There’s a bloke sitting in hospital now with metal plates in his cheek. How do you reckon he feels?

Doesn’t matter where he came from, king hitting someone is a bloody dog act

Yep... In knowing Bennett this would be last thing he would do and I’m shocked this has happened.

Amazing this bloke didn't get de-registered. Always the same comments, "top bloke" "out of character" "last guy i would think to do this". To bad, **** off to boxing, oh wait your opponent might be facing you when you try to punch him.

It’s the people who don’t want to genuinely play football that are the problem and doing the damage though.

Surely we are at a point in time where 'non football' related offences such as violent assaults are treated as just that and not protected by being on a sporting field.

Im not talking about the shepherd that accidently goes a bit high but the blatant coward punches behind play caught on camera.

Surely if players knew they could be and would be charged with assault that would stop a small element from committing these acts. It's just absolute craziness that anyone can get away with hits like that and only face a 10 week ban from an amateur sport, they could go and play soccer/rugby/basketball this weekend and essentially serve no real ban of consequence.

I don't think he'll have another brain fart, he would be genuinely remorseful and hating himself right now, at the same time relieved that he is still allowed to play.

If the same act happened in the clubrooms at the bar after the game you'd be worried about jail time.

Instead he'll be lining up in Round 1 next year.

Strange.
