The reason they are on a Sunday is that especiall week 1 of the finals with D1 & D1R still playing that there are not enough field umpires to do all grades

Imagine club umpires doing finals

understand that, then why would the PAOC and UNI game be a Saturday and not the Broadview and GGFC game? Surely, if Broadview being the highest placed side in this comp requested a game and there are umpires available (assuming PAOC and UNI have SAAFL appointed umpires for the Saturday game) they should get first preference?? obviously I would prefer Saturday ;)

wont be Saturday - I think they are looking at Friday night at Thebarton

Not up yet I believe but pretty sure that Broadview V GGFC will be at Broadview on Saturday.

The early game will be Broadview V Salisbury I believe?

Would leave PAOC and UNI on Sunday. With the sides playing off in the res games too,

Tex, Broadview will play North Haven in the early game, the Div 8R Elimination final.

yeah, will be playing the "bad dad" role this weekend!
Cant blame the wife, she booked thinking we played all year on Saturday.

Oh well lucky the party is in Norwood.

Apparantly the winner of the Broadview Vs GGFC game on Sunday will have to back up and play SMOSH on Friday night?

Pretty good avantage in finishing top if true. Get two weeks off and your opposition plays two games in 5 days - most of us also have to put in a working week somewhere between this also!

It's only a draft so broad view will have the chance to ask for the game get change to a Saturday. Why will the next game be a Friday night?

Not actually sure why the next game is rumoured to be a Friday, again a mate from Broadview told me. The game will be Sunday, no umpires as stated earlier on.

i'm pretty sure there would be a couple of umpires free, i think it comes down to the clubs reason to have the c grade play on a saturday over a sunday. Couldn't see SMOSH wanting to play on a friday night, could be the saafl wanting to use Thebby as much as possible and could be forcing the issue

maybe second week, this week both us and broadview prefer Saturday. Friday night would be fine if this week is a Saturday but sunday is a bit much. I know it is just a day but normally you can use Sunday as a rest day to recover, but instead off to work we go on the monday. We need to get over broadview first anyway, keen as for the game whatever time it ends up being now!

Good win by the Reds today, was a close game all day and not much between us all day. No injuries, few boys played in to form, so full steam ahead for Golden Grove this week .

Grove boys, any word on a sat or Sunday game? And presume it will be out at Harpers?

Will be Sunday again I would assume. I think it will be at a neutral ground, in the past the club has not forked out the $1000 for a C grade final, no big deal really.

Broadies were too good for us yesterday, they ran well all day. We were flat from the start, hit the lead briefly in the second quarter but they came over the top of us. I think that they will win next week too and go straight into the GF. Looking forward to the weekend now. Will you get some players down now that the B grade are out? I know you had a lot of injuries this season, was that in the higher grades pushing blokes up or in your team and they have now come good?

We will get a few back next week so we should be near full strength, we were close to full yesterday with a couple to come in.

It is great to have SAAFL umpires too, no reason to question any decisions about bias, thought yesterdays were pretty good. They were hot on everything but for both sides so you cant argue with that.

We won't get anyone back now as no one else has qualified anyway. We were hit with injuries across the board but no more or no less than any other club. Sunday games aren't the best as I'm usually still in bed the day after a game, not here at work..

Love this time of year, bring on the weekend!!

Mate I have a 5 and a 2 year old who are relentless, I am up early on Sunday regardless, if anything coming in to work means I dont have kids jumping on me all day!

We are the same, the A grade are now out but that may push one or two back down but not a heap. We actually were ok with injuries in the C grade throughout the year, it was the higher grades that were hit more for us.

Good win by the U/18's, C & D grade. Plenty of support on the hill by the A Grade on "Silly Sunday" with their fancy dress. Plenty of curry given to the opposition and the biggest crowd the all three sides have played in front of this year. Triple header worked well just glad it didn't rain.

Highlight of the day was the 100 metre costume sprint held at 1/2 time of the D8 game. To quote ESPN's Chris Berman " They were a bumbling and a stumbling to the finish line"

The event was won by Andy "Jackie Moon" Read with a spirited effort by Locky "Spiderman" Warner
and Joe "Kim Duthie" Adamo.

A great day had by all at the club with the Canteen and BBQ being cleaned out.

Well done to Michael "The Mentor" Stevens for organising the A Grade on the hill.

Now to get serious for week 2 of finals

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

I didnt think that the boys were giving all that much to the opposition to be honest, was expecting more from them. Was great to play in front of a crowd for a change, for us just wish the results went the other way. Would love us to put up the money and play our next game at home but think that it will end up at a neautral ground. With crowds like yesterday it is a no brainer, helped that it was the end of the season for the A grade for Broadview also.

It's a bit rich that Div 8 is the same cost as Div 2-7 when they are all C & D grades. Surely Div 8 should be the same C1 - C4?? Then it would only cost $500 for one game and the club would probably do it... $-)

Div 8 & 8R are attached mate, so the club who has the right to host a Div 8 final gets two games, just like Div 1-7.

It will be interesting to see where the 8R games are played, Semi Final 1 will be PAC and Broadview - Broadview would want to play before thier C grade but so will PAC. the other game is Salisbury v UNI - pretty sure Salisbury would not want to veture out to SMOSH to play either.

I'd say it would be PAC that play together. Just noticed on sporting pulse that the games are scheduled for saturday, could just be because minor rounds are played on saturday though and will be updated once the grounds are named.
