well done to havens on saturday. showed that even with a depleted line up you can still grind out a win. damn that rain that rolled in at 2.15 though but everyone plays in the same conditions. we just can not find a way to win at the moment. spirit is still good though so we press on for Rosies at home this week.

also, this will sound like whingeing about umpiring and it is not, it was just simply crap both ways. no feel at all for the game or the conditions from the two umps there on saturday. frankly tired of providing feedback on umps as well as it is always met with a page of explanatory notes that are as inaccurate as the decisions. it's the worst in the five years we've been in the comp. had one of them in another game this year and was just as bad that day. :?

Cheers Sprint, well played by you guys. Gotta love the rain, I hope it rains every Saturday for the next 8 weeks. ;)

Spot on about the umpiring mate, in a wet weather game they just have to let it go on a bit more. The yellow card that one of your guys recieved at quarter time was disgraceful and non-required. There was nothing more than a schuffle, thats all.

Plympton vs Smithfield
Plympton would have to fancy themselves winning the last 7 encounters against Smithfield, round 4 in 2007 Smithfield's last taste of victory against the Red Dogs. Plympton who are under-achieving so far this season are still a very dangerous side and I'd imagine be coming out on fire and keen to get their season back on track.
Smithfield on the other hand have strung 4 wins together and are finally starting to show something, the long trip up South Road is not an envious journey and they will need to be on the ball from the start if they are to take the points. Both teams seasons are at a pivotal point at the moment and neither team can afford to drop this one, if Smithfield want to be considered as a chance they have to put this one away.
Last few meetings
Round 1 2010 @ Smithfield: Plympton 15.16(106) def. Smithfield 10.12(72)
Round 18 2009 @ Plympton: Plympton 17.10(112) def. Smithfield 13.8(86)
Round 9 2009 @ Smithfield: Plympton 22.17(149) def. Smithfield 4.8(32)
Round 13 2008 @ Plympton: Plympton 15.7(97) def. Smithfield 8.12(60)
Round 4 2008 @ Smithfield: Plympton 17.14(116) def. Smithfield 12.8(80)
1st Semi Final 2007 @ Smithfield: Plympton def. Smithfield by approx 30 points.
Round 13 2007 @ Plympton: Plympton 12.9(81) def. Smithfield 6.7(43)
Round 4 2007 @ Smithfield: Smithfield 18.9(117) def. Plympton 13.16(94)
Round 11 2006 @ Smithfield: Smithfield 19.11(125) def. Plympton 13.6(84)
Round 2 2006 @ Plympton: Plympton 19.9(123) def. Smithfield 12.9(81)

Plympton may have knocked Smithfield out in the 2006 1st Semi Final aswell, the SAAFL website doesn't allow me to obtain that info.

ah yes that would be the ump we had a few weeks ago
interesting to see the other ump give a couple of high fives as he passed through to the rooms after the game. just shouldn't do that as an ump.

i reckon the umps went against you blokes a couple of weeks back when we played just because of the heckling from the lads behind the club room end goals late in the game. i was pretty entertained by their banter as i adjudicated the goal kicking at that end. it is total rubbish that an ump is influenced by what the crowd has to say.

I wasn't at the game, but my dad did ring me after that and explain it to me, does sound like he's made up his own set of rules there. I'm not sure if a free kick can even be awarded to start with! let alone a free kick and then a 25 after the fact. The way dad explained it to me was that an elizabeth player ran through a plympton group of players and collected a few of them on the way through maybe? thats the only thing that he could see that it was for?!?

I think during quarter breaks the only thing that can happen is a player/official/coach/etc can be reported, but no free kicks. i think!

Is that how you saw it? I know you can however hand out 25s for umpire abuse from crowds, but it'd want to be a fair bit of abuse if i was ever to give one of those out! But not when the free kick should not have been given in the first place!

I spoke to a very reliable source from Plympton today and from what he was telling me there are huge problems down at the kennel. Ranging from player disharmony. Apparently on a thurs night after training there are 3 different A grade groups ranging from the ones Symo has brought in to help the side improve to possibly go up a division. The other 2 groups are one with the likes of blokes that came back to the club last year that played a couple of years ago headed by a dual b&f and the other group is players that were in the A grade before Symo came back and still believe they are Agrade players. Also a certain 18's coach is attempting to take Symos job so the knives are out, also another ex player at the start of the prelim final last year in the wrm up said to the players that we might not believe in the game plan but lets go out and try and win.
According to the source at 3 1/4 time last week when symo took the players to the centre of the ground to show then the best way to attack and win the game the supporters cracked the shits and went home, they believe that symo had segregated the side from the supporters. Who cares if the players are taken away from the supportes isnt it about winning the game.
Now another thing that i was told even though i knew this is at home games so called supporters that sit behind the goals dont even buy beers from the club they bring their own grog, then continue to bag the players.
for the side to win games dont you think that the players need to come together and start playin for eachother do the one percenters other than when they gey told to man up on someone just look at them and ignore them.
Now Jabber and any other Plympton supporters have you got any response to this

funny you say that the supporters thought they have been segregated because when they played us in round 9, he took the team huddle to the supporters at 3/4 time who were sitting behind the goals.
