it would be a shock if the top 2 sides fell off and normally a side being relegated is stronger in the lower div and the ones coming up have recruited well ......pulteney hectorville hope valley and pooraka would have lost a lot more of the senior group from last year and more then likely have not covered them :(

Not so sure about that.

Pretty presumptuous until clearances have been finalised.

Glenunga will do very well in Div 4, they will push for finals.

All I can say is, no matter what happens for us in terms of results this year, we are still better off than what we were going into this season and that's a positive for the club. Worst case scenario we go back to Div 5. Regardless the club has made the right decision.

I'm not saying that your wrong, but I always thought that moving up grades with momentum is better. Kilburn went to Div 2 before they were ready and ended up sliding back to Div 4 in the next two years. Different grades I know but if Glenunga are pushing for finals in div 4 then they would be flag faves in div 5. One thing I disagree with is your worst case scenario, this could be a bigger worst case than you think. A premiership at a club is 100% better than a relegation at any grade.

Position 40 is higher than 41

You would think most sides would have the bulk of clearances in by now, only a couple of weeks away from round 1.

Never said anything about it being a bad system, just cannot understand why a club would want to play in a lower division and hence be an additional year away rather than take opportunities when they present themselves.

Surely each club aims for promotion each year, otherwise what is the point?

Unless once you get below the top few divisions it is merely a social kick around

Doesnt matter div a club is in its never just a kick around. Every club is very serious about earning promotion and a premiership. But most clubs like to be able to make the jump from div to div and know that they can compete and not get relegated because with relegation comes players leaving, sometimes sponsership money leaves and its sends a club into free fall unless they have the right setup behind them.

Pooraka will feature in the finals this year. Top 3 would be my thoughts. They have a very large fitness base behind them and there are probably only two main players that left in Lovell and Long. But they have picked up a few guns none bigger than Dale Armstrong who played league football last year.

You misunderstood my post. I believe that moving up through divisions when you didn't win or even play in the grand final the season before can have a negative effect on a club if they are not ready. I dint know if Glenunga are ready I just think that moving up with momentum is better. They remain in div 5 this year and win a flag move to div 4 you attract players, you go up and struggle and move back down players may leave.

A club like Fitzroy should not be playing Div 6 in the first place. Id expect them to come straight back up.

HV got over the line in a quality, physical encounter with Meningie. Good bunch of blokes and supporters and well worth the trip. I highly recommend it to any teams looking for a solid hit out and team bonding exercise. Bus trip was good fun, especially on the way back!

Also heard Heccies got up by about 6 goals over Para Hills and GG were within 3 goals of Modbury at 3/4 time. Don't quote me on either of those though
