The footy club at Mitchell Park don't get any direct money from the bar. That's owned by the sporting club. Much to my chagrin. When you visit please buy a drink from the guys with the big esky at the front. ;)

But in all honesty, I head back to mine pretty much immediately after home games as well  so wouldn't notice if oppo players come in or not. I definitely wouldn't consider it rude if they didn't. Times have changed, players probably have wives, kids and other commitments to get home to.

All the more reason then hey?

I have never understood the "must drink in the bar after the game rule".

I personally dislike the vast majority of the opposition I play on, I don't drink beer and don't see the need to be contributing cash into the coffers of clubs that generally speaking pay their players way more than we do. What exactly am I supposed to be doing there?

**** that noise.

Not sure what the policy is for other clubs but Greenies will shout the opposition drinks and generally food after the game...so no cash contribution required

I think morell has his manrags today ;)
Leaving the obvious misogyny aside yes I am grumpy with football.

Played like shit and had to assist with resolving a bunch of issues that I should have to because of shit ****.

Footy clubs will do that to you, they age you quicker and have habits of being thankless chores at times, on the other hand you build life long friendships and memories.

I'm glad I'm out of it all now, spent too many years dedicating my life to others while not asserting enough time to what was more important to me.

I guess more broadly, after our junior president came and spoke to us asking for senior players to rock up on a Sunday morning and maybe get to training at 5pm to assist with training...

I jokingly said "jeez, why don't we just move in?"

And I guess that's my point.

Far out man - Tuesday training, Thursday training, Saturday be there an hour before the game, play your guts out, stay back with opposition, get your club rooms for presos, help out the sponsors, Sunday recovery sessions ...

Football is enough of a commitment and all consuming hobby, I think we can begin thinking about cutting players some slack for perhaps wanting to get home after an away game instead of socialising with the opposition.

Time have changed people, we're more time poor than ever. I play social basketball, it takes up an hour a week. Football? Would be 20+

What about when you play what you thought was a blinder, rush back to the club in anticipation of getting a decent award and then you don't even get a mention but the full back who had 7 kicked on him does, yeah sure he had 19 kicks, the opposition did kick 17 behinds though.

Hahaha we've got some players that only come back to the club for presos if they see their name on sporting pulse quick enough.

Do they beeline the coach as soon as they get there to make sure he see's them?

Interested in hearing what those who played glenunga on the weekend thought? If the rumor mill is true they are throwing around some serious cash and won't except anything other than a promotion.

Would they accept it though?

They were not bad. Seen better teams running around div 5 before but it is round 1. They were a bit like us I suggest with lots of new faces taking time to gel. See how they go in the next few weeks.

Interesting choice to go from playing Reserves football in 2016 to Div 5 in 2017

It's hard to comprehend when there is no known link i.e. Junior club, family association with club or mates are out there. Heard Henley Sharks are referring potential recruits who they meet with but don't fit into their salary cap or points structure to the rams.

Henly would be right. Brian Lees is a henly boy. heard a rumour he wants the Div 1 A grade job. also heard he needs to be proven before they give him the job. enter the Rams! paying the bloke MASSIVE money to coach. he will blow them out financially to achieve his goal of a flag and be off. But its great saying and old one, great players don't make great coaches!!!! mass exodus from last yr has a fair bit to do with him not winning the "locker room". banged heads with a lot of ol faithfuls last yr at Glenunga. its no youth policy,
