Hope valley good win, will be a good battle next weekend, good to see golden grove get back up to

Any club would struggle if 65% of their last year's senior squad retired, moved or transferred to other clubs. But likely to be a long cold winter for the University C grade in Div 6 this year.

I reckon i only recognised about 2 of last years c graders out there on the weekend and the rest im assuming are either new or have come up from the lower grades. I also noticed that a couple of guys that played in last years Cs have played As in the first 2 rounds

also looks as though they may be relegated to div 2 for the first time in their history. anyone know the reason behind the mass exodus?

I think there's 2 from last year playing c's with majority being new players to club - with some going up as well. The centenary year for uni brought out many players for just that year. Apparently many of the a and b grade got interstate/overseas jobs and traditional sources of players are being catered for elsewhere (like blackfriars/trinity and country sides). I think the A's will get a few more out over the next weeks as reserves and fringe league players drift to amateur league clubs.

Still Hope Valley must have picked up a few as a 150+ point win is more than handy and their trial form didn't seem to be that good.

Yes, I am connected with the Blacks.

Yeah weve picked up a few. Actually had our B&F from last year out on the week end but he will b back for the blacks game. We have 4 guys out this week because of a bloody wedding! Not ideal preparation for a top of the table clash but oh well

Actually only 1 of them is playing As at the moment. Tom Matoga has settled into the side really well and creates alot of run. Dave and John Maguire are playing Bs at the moment. Dave is a bit unlucky not to b playing As at the moment, just really competetive for spots but could b a chance this week with a few out. Matt Jones injured himself in a trial and is probably still a few weeks away.

Dave is the best of them all...actually plays better as the standard increases. Tommy is a good kid and should do well if he gets his kicks right...loves a goal. Matt Jones will probably be injured for most of the year!!

Yeah stiffy looks good, just need to find a spot for him! Tom loves to carry the ball. We r playing him off half back and hes doing a good job at it. My only criticism with him at the moment is that he holds on to the ball a little too long when he could probably get it in to the forward line quickly. That can get alittle frustrating for the forwards. (me being one of them!)

Ha Ha ....... doesn't sound like Tommy at all...loves a dummy and bounce as much as a goal...forgot to mention that earlier. If he is playing off the half back flank he wouldnt be the most accountable player in your side

Did the Valley pick up Browny from Broadview?? Devleoped a bit of a cult following out there, can do some very special things, but as all players that are like that, terribly inconsistent.

It looks as though the old studs will be brushed off and worn on saturday... gotta love wet weather footy... it will be a welcome addition to all ovals around the state i'm gathering. Might be a few changes leaning towards smaller boys into the side to rove those scrappy wet packs! You're gonna have a hard time valley boys! should be a good game
