How are Modbury going to go everyone? I watched the A2 GF - they seem to have a few good players and a have good ground. Are TTG and Modbury going to cut each others throats or doesn't it matter that they are neighbours

Jimmy you tell me where the majority of the Most succesful SAAFL clubs are located?? The North Eastern Suburbs (Broadview,Gaza,Kilburn,TTG,Modbury,Pooraka,Walkerville,Gepps X just to name a few) I highly doubt it would be an issue....

Actually it is interesting, but I get your point - I was just sick of the argument that was going on and was just trying to get back to footy. I really couldn't care how Modbury goes, but it does look like they have lost 2 v good players which wont help

In the past 20 years:

1988 Greenacres 11.13 Broadview 11.11 Adelaide Oval
1989 Broadview 18.13 Greek Camden 2.8 Adelaide Oval
1990 Greek Camden 18.12 Riverside 12.15 Alberton Oval
1991 Greek Camden 9.12 Kilburn 9.1 Alberton Oval
1992 Port District 17.8 Broadview 8.1 Alberton Oval
1993 Broadview 14.7 Kilburn 9.17 Adelaide Oval
1994 Kilburn 10.15 Port District 8.9 Adelaide Oval
1995 Kilburn 14.18 Broadview 11.15 Adelaide Oval
1996 Adelaide University 21.12 Edwardstown 13.9 Adelaide Oval
1997 Goodwood Saints 11.9 P.H.O.S. Camden 10.8 Adelaide Oval
1998 Broadview 18.13 Goodwood Saints 8.6 Adelaide Oval
1999 Adelaide University 5.13 Goodwood Saints 5.12 Adelaide Oval
2000 P.H.O.S. Camden 7.5 Broadview 6.6 Alberton Oval
2001 Kilburn 19.5 Adelaide University 14.7 Adelaide Oval
2002 P.H.O.S. Camden 11.17 Adelaide University 10.12 Adelaide Oval
2003 Gaza 10.15 Broadview 7.9 Adelaide Oval
2004 Broadview 9.11 Goodwood Saints 8.1 Adelaide Oval
2005 Goodwood Saints 13.1 Gaza 8.5 Adelaide Oval
2006 Goodwood Saints 18.11 Adelaide University 10.12 Alberton Oval
2007 Goodwood Saints 19.16 Gaza 11.7 The Barton Oval
2008 Goodwood Saints 13.9 Salisbury North 9.4 The Barton Oval

Thats: North 9 Non-North 11

But I bet if you put a list of Div 1 clubs over the past 20 years the North Eastern located clubs would dwarf the non north eastern clubs, dont worry bout nothern clubs, im just talking north eastern (15km area from Kilburn to ttg).

Gaza, Gepps, Modbury, ROCS, TTG, Kilburn, Broadview, Greenacres, Athelstone, Pooraka all been in div 1 in the past 20 years. Does not include other strong clubs such as Para Hills, Walkerville, Iggies, Golden Grove and so on which are high ranking clubs in their respective divisions more times than they are not. Very strong area base in Adelaide for football clubs, actually I would go as far as saying the strongest area including the SFL.

I think LK's on the right track. If you look at the div 1 premierships over the last 30 years there have been two major hotspots. The inner north(Broadview, Gaza, Kilburn, Uni, Adelaide College(I think)) and the outer west(Pt District, Riverside, PHOS, Greek). Goodwood are the only team out of these two areas to have won a div 1 title.

Stretching the facts to suit the argument a bit aren't you but I do agree that we should split the inner and outer North and South
BUT
Uni & Adelaide College - inner north!!!!
PHOS - outer west - bollocks - try south
Greek - I cant remember where they played but you may be right - was it down at Henley?

1978 Payneham East
1980 Broadview inner North
1981 Adelaide College Central
1982 Adelaide College Central
1983 Riverside West
1984 Riverside West
1985 Greek ?
1986 Adelaide University Central
1987 Broadview inner North
1988 Greenacres inner North
1989 Broadview inner North
1990 Greek Camden inner South
1991 Greek Camden inner South
1992 Port District West
1993 Broadview inner North
1994 Kilburn inner North
1995 Kilburn inner North
1996 Adelaide University Central
1997 Goodwood Saints inner South
1998 Broadview inner North
1999 Adelaide University Central
2000 PHOS Camden inner South
2001 Kilburn inner North
2002 PHOS Camden inner South
2003 Gaza inner North
2004 Broadview inner North
2005 Goodwood Saints inner South
2006 Goodwood Saints inner South
2007 Goodwood Saints inner South
2008 Goodwood Saints inner South

So that is:

Central 5
North 11
East 1
West 4 (I will include Greek)
South 9

TOTAL 30

So, actually the NE clubs around TTG, Modbury, Elizabeth and Salisbury dont figure at all

My argument is that thet 15 km zone in the North East is a strong point for football clubs thats all. I don't think im stretching the argument, I just beleive that is a 'hot spot' as quoted by Shrek and I was saying this to my dad 10 years ago.

Actually - you are right - how stupid - PAOC won the 1980 A3 flag at Weigell in 1980

So

1978 Payneham East
1980 Broadview inner North
1981 Adelaide College Central
1982 Adelaide College Central
1983 Riverside West
1984 Riverside West
1985 Greek Inner South
1986 Adelaide University Central
1987 Broadview inner North
1988 Greenacres inner North
1989 Broadview inner North
1990 Greek Camden inner South
1991 Greek Camden inner South
1992 Port District West
1993 Broadview inner North
1994 Kilburn inner North
1995 Kilburn inner North
1996 Adelaide University Central
1997 Goodwood Saints inner South
1998 Broadview inner North
1999 Adelaide University Central
2000 PHOS Camden inner South
2001 Kilburn inner North
2002 PHOS Camden inner South
2003 Gaza inner North
2004 Broadview inner North
2005 Goodwood Saints inner South
2006 Goodwood Saints inner South
2007 Goodwood Saints inner South
2008 Goodwood Saints inner South

So that is:

Central 5
North 11
East 1
West 3
South 10

PHOS, Greek all west don't know how you got 'inner south' for them.

Uni are in North Adelaide so yes they are north.

Is Anzac Highway at Plympton west?

I think Central is more fitting for Uni and Teachers, as well as Pulteney OS, Adelaide Lutheran, CBCOC, PAOC, SPOC, Adelaide High and Post Tel

Fitzroy, Ovingham etc - North

do you know much about ben gunning? seems strange to play for a club one year, win a flag then definately leave?? will vassal be staying if the league thing doesnt work out and heading off with ben

Dunno Norwwod have given ben an apprenticeship so i think that got him over the line. Vass would go back to Norwood i wouldnt think. Ben will stay at the legs with the work situation and vass will give it a good shot as the skipper was the one that wanted him at the blues

Is Garfoot due back at all FS??

Not sure about fish i doubt we will see him for a while.... he didnt end up leaving till late in the season but had to do alot of courses so he couldnt play. i would say he enjoying sydney and coming back wouldnt be in his thinking atm

but we would welcome him back with open arms

garfoot very good player. funnily enough i bumped into ben today, told me if norwood didnt work out he would play back at home while still living in kensington. didnt go into it but strange that he definatley wants to leave a premiership team??

Alot of the modbury boys still speak to & c Guns often, no bad blood between him and the club/ players. He comes from Yorkes and still has alot of friends down that way. Both him and Vass are quality players and no one is shocked by the fact they want to give higher level footy another crack.
Speaking to Vass recently he has said if Sturt doesnt pan out he will be coming back to the hawks, at the best we will get him with a full SANFL pre season under his belt.

From a couple of stories I've heard Garfoot doesn't back down from a punch up, which I reckon is an integral part of a decent team.

Garfoot has never been in a fight in his life. He is very religous and hardly has a beer after a game. Possibly the nicest most laid back bloke you will meet.

I think you have him mixed up with someone else GFP
