Gavin Chaplin?

Correct appointed about week n half two weeks ago been kept very low key for some reason. Seems a ripping bloke

Wasn't that low key when the club leaked the appointment like a sieve as mentioned on here last month

Just in case he wasn't already tough enough!

I reckon his career might be over as quick as it begun. He was brutally knocked out in the forth and suffered a pretty bad concussion. Is doing Ok now.

That's surprising. He is far to good a footballer to be playing 2's. Any reason? Plays A grade all year last season didn't he?

Why can't he coach the 2s and still play in the 1s????

Particlarly if one was looking at inventive extra-curricular salary cap payments ;)

Maybe because he would be coaching for all of 2 quarters before he has to do the warm up with the team.

Never works in my opinion. A grade coaches playing B's, B grade coaches playing A's. Only way it can work is if the coach plays in the team they are coaching.

Will be interesting to monitor the standard of Div 1/2 relative to the Hills and BLG Leagues for however long this remains in force.

Clubs will 100% comply with the cap, too much at stake if caught.
Clubs can't control if an external party wishes to pay or employ people though ;)

And of course have absolutely nothing to do with arranging or indicating these external party agreements either

And that crap aside, that the C9AFL is going in with a smaller cap and without the marquee player provisions that the bordering leagues do will naturally cause relative quality to decline in any event.

Of course not, as long as the club isn't paying over the cap that's all that matters. Far too many ways to legitimately get around the cap

If you read the Regulations more carefully you'll find that's not the case. If the Club or its officers are responsible for procuring these deals it could be in strife.

Of course, good luck proving that.
