CLG 18-0

Knocked us off twice in the minor round 9.5 - 5.2 at our ground then 8.10 - 7.6 at theirs after we gave them a 5 goal start. We played them in the 2nd semi at TTG in appalling raining, wet muddy conditions.

BFC 1.0 3.1 4.1 4.1 (25)
CLG 1.5 2.6 2.8 2.8 (20)

They were not happy in losing their 1st game for the year and let us know about it.

The GF was played at Greek-Camden in windy conditions
They tried to intimidate us by turning up all with their heads shaved and telling us what they were going to do to us.
Well that didn't work as they gave away free kicks all afternoon and had players sent from the ground.

BFC 0.4 2.8 3.9 7.10
CLG 0.2 0.2 3.5 5.6

Gave them their 2nd loss for the season. Then after the game they came and had a drink with us.

So FE 1992 in Div 6 res, your D grade yeah?

Someone had to set you blokes straight in 2002 Morrell, your mate Zed as we know went nuts and was one great game of footy in the lower divs. That game in on repeat everytime I walk in to the Marion Hotel. Saw Wal @ the Kenilworth GF on the weekend too.

Sure was our D grade. Awesome side. Had a fair bit of talent in it.

Back in those days our depth ran very deep we had an E Grade as well back then.

We kept the core of the side together until about 2001 with some players playing higher at times over the years.

Our C Grade used to give CLG nightmares as well more on those stories to come.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

No mate of mine LK. Assuming you're talking about a regular season game?

Did you speak to Wal? Did he manage to get the claw going?

Yes it was a regular game. Pretty sure it was the last game you lost that year? We won that game and it saved us from getting relegated with 8 wins....

CLG -1991 - 3rd, 1992 - 4th, 1993 - premiers, 1995 - premiers. Don't recall anyone giving us nightmares in those years!

I can just vaguely recall playing at Kenilworth that year, it was my first year of senior footy as a skinny 19 year old and broke my collarbone! Typical.

I do recall it was an ultra tight year, going into the last round I think we needed to win to finsh top, if we lost we finished 4th, or something like that. Of course then, unlike CLG, we dominated the finals and won the GF by 100+ points. :D

Yep, an amazing day. Seaton beat SHOC in the first final by 102pts and most thought SHOC were done. They rebounded in the prelim to beat Kenilworth by 6 goals, and then had a 9 goal opening quarter in the GF and in the end enjoyed a 14pt victory. I believe the 20-0 t shirts were put in a dumpster behind the Seaton rooms....

That was an amazing 5 weeks of footy and about equal time spent celebrating, especially with all 3 other senior grade winning flags that season. The story goes the supporters at the As were more excited getting the score updates from the Cs than the game in front of them, that Henley won by plenty.

PS

Premierships since Mitchell Park have been around:

Mitchell Park
D6 - 1 (2002)
D7 - 1 (2012)

CLG*
D6 - 1 (1993)
D7 - 1 (2007)

* and this is despite numerous grand and preliminary final appearances. I couldn't find reference to your 1995 flag anywhere.

So we have won a more recent flag in both D6 and D7? Unless I am mistaken?

lollies.

Morrell unless you're calling myself and 2000 other supporters liars aswell the 95 South Premiership was won by CLG.

I'm going to call the A5 North flag was won by Wingfield Royals from memory. If I'm right **** I'm good? Just remembering a childhood image I saw on their club wall (or on crime stoppers)

No no, not at all, I just couldn't find reference to it and I was 12 when it happened, my mind was elsewhere. Why so defensive?

Yes I was there and remember that well. The GF was played at Edwardstown and Henley towelled up CLG. Kim Koster played for the Lions and what a big year it was for the sharks. :)
