Not What I heard.

11 team comp with home and away games. Budgies would not be exposed to relegation.

More than likely only 8 to 10 AFL listed players would play (due to injury, travel as emergency etc.) Don't know where the rest come.

Was proposed yesterday during an interview with Trigg that Div 1 would be an 11 team comp.
Crows/Ravens to potentially play all games at Thebby.
The top up players would come from the Div 1 side that has the bye each week.
Trigg was very sketchy but refuted those claims and does not know where the top ups would come from.
He stressed their number 1 priority was playing in the SANFL league comp next year

Even being a Crows supporter I personally think this would make the states premier amateur competition a bit of a farce. Div1 would be experimental and whilst there would be benefits these blokes are elite athletes and would be going up against blokes who are just amateurs and physically would destroy SAAFL sides.

Well well well........
It is now gaining momentum for the saafl.

Will any of the sanfl clubs reverse their original decision at the 11th hour?

8 to 10 AFL players at 4-5 points each. 32-40 points. I think most clubs would love to play with that many.

Why anyone even bothers raising issues of points relating to the Crows is beyond comprehension. Clearly if this happens the Crows will be given an exemption.

Just some thoughts;

*Will the entire league be umpired like the AFL? My thoughts are that you can't just have set standards for 1 division.

*Do people think this will close the gap between SAAFL and SANFL? Meaning training work loads on top clubs would increase @ Amateur level.....

*To compete with the Crows would some clubs go bust if not now but in the medium to long term? It can't be good for clubs to go up against AFL opposition when these blokes only train 2-3 times a week half arsed in comparrison to Adelaide.

* Would it create an ENOURMOUS gap between Div 1 and 2 meaning promoted clubs to Div 1 would have to unload some massive $$ to be competitive in comparrison to div 2.

Perhaps they might split the SAAFL into a Premier League Comp with maybe only 6-8 of the supposed $$$ teams without a promotion or relegation system, and then run a Divisional Comp on the current format.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

I like the way some people don't want them cause they will win every year, and other people don't want them cause they won't be relegated if they finish in the bottom 2.

I can't believe the saafl would in their wright mind allow the crows to enter the div 1 comp or any other level.
For one thing they would dominate the comp with massive wins most weeks. Home ground advantage every week, playing against full time professionals, good training facilities, gee I would really like playing & not expecting to win a premiership. looks like div 2 would be a good place to play for someone who wants to play in a premiership at good level.

Personally, I couldn't think of anything better than standing a T.Walker or another gun coming back from injury, it'd be the awesome! He might kick 16, but it would be so much fun getting a crack.

You would hope not but i can see the "Idiot Factor" coming in to play, there will be people out there that get there jollys from telling there mate how they belted Richard Tambling behind play and broke his Jaw, if i was a Crows player i would have huge concerns on coming to the amatuers for reasons like this.

I'm sure they would have several camera angles covered for wankers like this. Probably the reason why they want to play games at Thebarton so they can leave the scaffold up all season....

Norwood are closer to agreeing to crows to have reserves in SANFL,

Im sure this idiot factor, and the insurance risks of everything else there be no way theyd put $200,000 soldier boys up against us amateur budgies

IMO it'd be less costly to put a crows reserves team in the VFL and fly them interstate every second week to play against professionals & not amateurs, just like the sydney swans do??
