here's hoping that the club manages to survive and gets back up to where it was before to reward the effort, spirit (club and community) and thought that has obviously gone into this year's side.

good luck for tomorrow v eastern park

Thankyou, they have a great core of people as the driving force, I'm not there anymore either but I do wish them well, I'm more involved with the cricket out there, I endeavour to play a game or two during the season though.
The positives are:
They have a team.
They will all pay their way.
They are a very social group and will support the club on match days and evenings.
They will build a foundation for future years and they wont allow any onfield thuggery.

LM!!!!
Boy am i glad to see you in this thread!

Make sure you have the footy boots on when you play Gepps Cross ;)

Good luck to Smithfield today, wish them all the best. great to hear the club wants to go forward from what has happened over the last 3 months. Hopefully this can be the begining that brings the club back to being a family club like it was.

I would guess it's more that the interest is in the higher grades, and A grade sides in particular, C grade footy is just a kick and a catch for most blokes and more about the social side of things.

Smithfield is starting to gain a bit of momentum, getting some younger blokes out on the track and will start being a bit more competetive over the next few weeks.
One thing they haven't lacked is spirit, their opposition have been very supportive and the games have been played in great spirit.
On a side note, the club has been making more money over the bar on Saturday nights this season with only side than they have for the previous few seasons with two sides.

I think you'll be safe with the 2 points mate, it's a team rule that everyone HAS to go in for at least one beverage after each game no mater how far the journey, they'll just delay awards for an hour. I haven't been to any games this year but it sounds like a good laugh, plenty of pats on the back after posting 6 goals last week and going down in a nail-biter. ;)

Good to see Smithfield fighting back. Had some great games against them years ago and would be a shame to see such a proud club stay down for too long.

They've had a bloody good arthriscope, they'll be able to screen players better for the future to ensure they get club people who don't have different agenda's come Saturdays.
I think they'll be looking at div. 7 next season, 50+ on the books now, if you don't train or pay, you don't play, their committee is pro-active and the club is looking as sound financially as it has in the past decade, they get a good crowd in there on a Friday night for their raffles, meals etc. the same occurs Saturday nights, I'm pleased that the right people have the right jobs down there.

Can some one confirm the score in the Gwd v Smithfield game. Iscore reads

Smithfield 38.21 (249)
Goodwood 0.0 (0)

Keyed in wrong?
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you, Port Adelaide Sturt. & Norwood You don't beat Glenelg in Grand Finals and get away with it.
