Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

They are scattered in every direction. A couple of them at North Pines I'm told. Rupert knew what he was talking about.

I believe im aware of these mysterious Gypsies now and may have even crossed paths with them a couple of years ago in 2008. I assume they did not help the Ovies current situation.

FOURTH ESTATE wrote:I put a lot of the blame on two factions for this disaster.

1. The Gypises that played at the club have done untold damage as do where ever they go.

2. The SAAFL with this stupid rule of teams being allowed to play 25 players per game which means clubs can hang on to players by giving them game time each week.

It's better than losing 5 or 6 players that aren't getting a game at all, and then playing with the bare 18 when injuries hit. We've currently got about 45 players in our C grade squad and no more than 3 players at once have missed out so far this year. Injuries and other committments ensures we NEVER have them all available at once.

Although hard to manage at times on game day, 7 on the bench has some merit IMO. I don't think we've finished a game with 7 fit players on the bench this year either. Injuries are more common with blokes who are a bit under done

I don't think having 25 in a C grade side is a valid reason to blame for Ovingham's downfall, IMO...

I agree. 25 for C grade is not a pre requisite, its an option. The main addition i have found is it has enabled me to say to older blokes and semi retired blokes "come down and have a kick for a quarter and see how the body goes"
Initially i feared it would increase the amount of meatheads in C grade but what coach in his right mind would leave a d*ckhead thug on the ground if he has a bench with a keen as mustard kid on it who just wants to play footy. :roll:
The other major benefit is that if you have 25 then once a season a player may be asked to do goal/boundary/runner/waterboy duties knowing that it will only happen once. My experience in the last 2 years is there has been much less games without missing umpires or players.

I was just asked a very disturbing question by someone that I hope has no substance;

Is anyone aware of a "knife pulling" incident on Saturday by a player from the opposition club at a C1 game?

I am able to categorically rule out the Ovies and PNU clash as i was there and had a beer and a sausage roll with a couple of the boys after the game. I did pull out the sauce bottle though.
Which leaves us with 6 teams from saturday. Are you able to tell us more Aceman. I do appreciate the nature of the difficulty of this situation. I sincerely hope its a load of.....

Depends on which "merry men" you are referring to but if I read between the Q lines, I'd say you are very close. Cant confirm 100%, that's why I posed the question but I believe that to be the case,it's full of spiders.

Not Good, Not good at all. Ill be in at Headquarters today. It will be interesting to see what i can learn about this incident. Makes you feel sick in the stomach though that in a Division 1 comp (albeit C1) something like the aforementioned may have happened :(
