Any truth in this that maybe GG going for an "untried novice coach"?

The postie dropped a letter in my mailbox this morning with the name Ray Ebel on it, I wonder if they would go down this path?

I'm thinking no way because I reckon he likes his freedom too much, wouldn't be able to go skiing up the river etc.

I had heard that name mentioned also but not for a while. Has a relative on the committee I think I have heard ?? I stand corrected though....

The postie was close to the mark then.
Wouldn't think Ray would take it on unless I've misread him, known him for a long time and his fiance and business takes first place, he's just got engaged and it doesn't ring true to me.
I too, will stand corrected if wrong.

Choccies, anything in this that you are aware of, it's from the APFL thread;

"big unit Scudds from Golden Grove (Div 4) to Virginia."

Yes ace. I confirmed this on the previous page.

Hope that Greg Phillips and Virginia get more out of him than we did this year. Hopefully for them he doesn't turn up to pre-season for them next year like he did for us this year.....

It'd be like missing the big fella in a crowd !!! Pretty hard to miss...
But we learnt alot this year playing without him so in hindsight it was the best thing for us.

What actually happened to Scudds last year that made him miss so many games??? Coz i no u r saying him being out was the best thing for the team but to still hav him in the line up would of been great? I remember playing against hin in under 17's when he was at Modbury still he tore us to bits and took out one of our better players( by accident of course our bloke was 5 foot nufin and he was 6 foot massive lol)... Was he always going to leave after 2 years or was this 2 do wiv $$$

Turned up to pre-season with a few extra kilos and the big fella doesn't need any more of those. With not alot of sessions under his belt, the hammy's started going regularly and with no fitness base and a heap of extra weight they never got right. He played 4 A grade games and half a B grade game and I think it'd be fair to say 3 or 4 out of those 5 games he would have barely been 50%. We loved having the big fella at the club make no doubts about that but when you go up a div and your 100+ goalkicking full forward doesn't present in any sort of shape for your club, and I think it's fair to say that we relied on him a fair bit, then it puts alot of pressure on everyone else. And despite missing the finals I think the need for others to step up has really benefited us.

And with Mark Weaver on board for 2010 and beyond things are looking pretty promising for us ;)

Cool cheers for clearing that up for me... Ur right tho for ur full forward to kick 100 plus goals the year before then to rock up overweight and not in shape wasnt a gd thing but as ur saying it helped the rest of the team out by finding another focal point will help u in the long run and wiv weaver of course lol

Will be interesting to see how Weaver goes at TTG, a large number of A graders were happy to see him leave as they didnt rate him as a coach........

On what basis did they not rate him FS ??

Happens at every club FS, you'll always find a few at every club. I reckon MW got a few offside when he called a very early Sunday morning session after an ordinary performance during the year plus he had a couple of guys(non players) who caused him some grief during the season. Well they were the words he used to describe it anyway.
He'll do alright at GG with a couple of extra players, they'd be pretty happy I reckon in securing him.
