Errr - you are the one raising it - and, considering the facts, a pretty ignorant comment. One good thing about a written discussion - you cant hide from your comment.

You obviously know Heardy really well

Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end, we'd sing and dance forever and a day! The Seekers I reckon!

Nup....Mary Hopkins - wrong again

All in all - a pretty bad morning for you CC

The stupid thing is if us, Salisbury or Mitcham were approached to go up, we would !!!

I think some of these clubs are taking playing in a higher grade for granted.

There would be some red faces if a side declined a D2 spot, then finished 9th or 10th this year in D3

Only Para Hills, Iggies and Woody South to go, but who gets the tap on the shoulder first; Salisbury or you?

Would be a tough ask to go from Div 4 to Div 2 Felch. Could do more harm then good jumping 2 grades and finishing in bottom 2 and going straight back down. Maybe this is the reason some clubs have declined the offer, they are being realistic with where they are at and think copping beatings every week doesnt sound like much fun
I'm number 1, so why try harder!!

Para Hills finished 5th Jimmy and apparently WILL decline the offer on Monday - then it goes to Old Ignatians, Woodville South, St Peters OC, Salisbury, Portland and then Mitcham IN THAT ORDER for the position to be offered by the Executive. After that you go to Divion 4 - and the order would be PAOC, Pooraka and North Haven. The Executive have a meeting on Monday night actually, so that may tell you something about their concern. Make no mistake there will be 10 teams in Divy 2 as someone will jump at the chance over the next week.

Jimmy is right - Edwardstown is the key by being soft and going to play in a sub standard competition with all the no hoper clubs, they have caused this. Dont blame SMOSH or Scotch as they finished 9th and 10th it was their rights to be relegated as per their finishing order from the 2008 Season.

Cant believe a once proud club like Kilburn however would not come up even without an abundance of players and money. That is very odd and perhaps they are not expecting another Government Grant worth tens of thousands again this year. The Kilbun of old would not have backed away. The old Kilburn would have taken up a challenge but I guess the new breed of player is just not up to it, but last time in D2 they were smashed by 20 goals every week anyway.

This may not be the only problem with divisions, I heard a nasty rumour last night, from someone pretty well in the know, about a Div 4 club that could complicate the system the same way this has.

It's not Kilburn's fault, they weren't good enough to make the GF so they can't be forced to go up. Edwardstown obviously created the intial problems by being soft, and Scotch have worsened it by going back on their word to stay up.

I'm sure there is a pretty good explination on Kilburns behalf. I beleive any club will decline the offer unless they have a super strength squad. You can't expect clubs at the last minute to jump a division or 2 when for the prior 5 months they have planned to tackle the division they are in. Would be pure insanity, why would you risk say playing finals in div 3/4 to go up a division to bolster your clubs ego and get belted then come back down. Theres no right or wrong here. Best option I feel would be feild 9 teams in div 2 with a bye, then leave the rest of the divisions alone and set in stone that all teams in the SAAFL if they finish top 3 they will get promoted at the end of 2009. At least that is both structured and fair.

Correct JN - I left SPOC out of the equation by mistake (old rivalries die hard). If that order that you have stated is correct, interesting that Salisbury get a preferred gig but Salisbury West dont figure. Anyway - doesn't really matter as it is not up to us.

To save me trolling for ours, has anyone got the inside info on why Edwardstown jumped ship?

if no-one from div 3 wants to go up that will mean an 11 team comp in that grade! a div 4 team would then have the option too go up and if one team takes the option will leave div 4 with 9 teams, does that mean 3rd placed team from div 5 will go up to div 4, and 3rd place team from div 6 will go up to div 5?

Just hope the SAAFL stays strong when Edwardstown want to come back in the future (with their tail between their legs), and tell them to f**k off.

Jimmy in a nutshell Townies have been suffering from wavering support and believe that a change of league will help. Also they people within the club don't like the relegstion system as they think it hinders any chance of establishing long running rivalries.

Just to try and add a bit to the discussion is this a perfect opportunity for a club outside the league to come in without starting in Div 6? There are always stories of clubs wanting to change leagues like a Blackwood 9example only) or similar.

Maybe all the sides that finished ninth might have their golden tickets revoked.

Well the league has not finalised the divisions, just keep all divisions as per they would if EFC were still in the league. So the clubs who previously would have stayed up will now go down. That leaves div 3 with 10 sides.

The silly fool is just trying to wind me up. I've got no clue what Occa and co. think about this situation. Don't know how good our team will be this year but I reckon with some hard work we could definately go OK in div 2.

The Donkey is complaining that it is not satisfied and Shrek was not a good lover. The Donkey did not even need a cigarette after being dealt such a poor blow by the Shrek. Might have to stick with the cattle Shrek and leave the Donkeys and Horses alone for a while until the technique is better.

You know Shrek that poor Ocker would love to go up but as Kommondant Martin runs the club, I am guessing that distinguished gentleman had a very big say in proceedings.
