He offered his services, for free, to help the club get a head start in 2011. He is essentially our "pre season" or "fitness" coach.

We werent going to say no to this opportunity simply because the coaching process isnt finalised.

Accepting his services is one thing, starting in October is another. The AFL clubs don't even start that early and they are at the elite level. Maybe late Nov or early Dec if you're keen - but October? Really??????

I will be interested to hear what sort of numbers you get that early as well as how many injuries you get late in season 2011. That's a looooooooooooooooooooooong season, especially if you go deep into the finals
I agree with you, it is very early and I am going to struggle to make it because of my knee. I know of a fair few other blokes that will struggle as well. It is optional though and it's only once a week for 10 weeks at this stage.

Having done a couple pre-seasons with Sturts underage teams let me tell u its a massive help to start before xmas. those who are determine enough wont become slack during xmas and those who do woont lose much of they do start that early but will only have themslevs to blame.

not questioning coming back to training before christmas because i think it needs to happen to give you that base fitness before you start the harder stuff in january but october the 13th??? thats very very early considering the season may not end until midway through september its 11 months of training when you think about it like that.

plus some people are playing cricket so it can be hard to combine the both so early in the year.

A Div 7 club starting training mid October is one of the most bizzare things I have ever heard.

A bet that's how the players felt when they were told pre season was starting on Oct 13th.

hahaha, pay that one.

but seriously, its not really pre-season, more a personalised training program organised through the club.

so anyone got an tips for nexts years flag yet?
personally i think its aboout trinity's turn after consecutive prelim final losses, but i rekon blackfriars could be pretty handy also after talking to a few blokes that played against them last year. houghton will probably improve after a competitive return to div 6 and kenilworth will be stronger again also. should be a cracker of a year next year i rekon!

Glenunga started an unofficial preseason two weeks after the 2009 Grand final - They got about a dozen people out until the official preason started in Nov/December

Some of the players found it beneficial just to keep the fitness in the legs as they don't play summer sports.

I'll tip Blacks! I think they will definatly be top 3 along with Havens. Both sides were more than competetive this year at times and if can keep this years squad together or improve will be around the mark for sure.

Hope so Bartman! We would love to be promoted back to Div 5 next year. Alot of hard work has to be put in pre-season before we even start thinking about that though!

Earn your coin week in/week out in the GSFL. Arguably the strongest league on par with Hills Central outside of SAAFL Div 1 in SA. Quality defenders week in/ week out.

jeez that tough for lockleys if they loose those two, especially after making a gf this year. cant blame corbett for having a crack at SANFL, but you would think others would stay around after being close last year.
