Theres no doubt Roey wasnt the greatest coach we have ever had and too much time was spent drinking at the bar but that should suit the Gepps Cross footy club who seem more interested in having a coach who lives at the bar rather than one who actually coaches the club.

Atleast when Roey is coaching, whoever it might be, the players want to play for him. Whether its cos he gets on the piss with them or not, its a good thing to have all the players wanting to win for the coach as well as the club, few clubs this year coulda used that attitude.

Roey must be able to coach okay you dont win a div 1 flag and not be able to coach. He turned Salis Nth around from being a club that was hopeless and getting thrashed in safa to a good club that is now playing finals. Lots of players i have spoken to say that he can coach, there is nothing wrong with getting on the gas with the players as long as you no when to draw the line and the players no. One of my best coaches loved to have a drink with you but you didnt talk shop as to say unless both parties are sober. Would love to see Jas taken on the job and do well.

The thing weith Roey next year is going to be his 'pulling power'. Would expect to see half the tteam made up of young North players or Retired players, and maybe even some from Broadview, premiership coach would still have a lot of respect and friendship with the old team mates???

Just wondering if anyone knows why Gaza took so long to lodge a complaint about a Headbutting incident against Broadview 2 weeks ago? The rumour I heard is that they waited till after Broadview had played Goodwood Saints cos without the "headbutter" Goodwood probably would have won and Gaza would not have finished top. Did anyone actually see the incident? From what I've heard from Broadview the guy got 5 matches with no evidence against him for apparently hitting Merritt in the back of the head?!? Can anyone confirm or deny any of this?

Does anyone know why Gullies aren't buying the home final for their As & Bs this week?

Amatuer League website says TTG v Henley in D1R and TTG v Salisbury North in D1 are at Campbelltown...

From memory, the Gullies aren't allowed to buy a home final due to the conflict in alcohol sponsors. The club signed a contract years ago with a supplier who isn't the SAAFL major sponsor (West End), and in doing so, forfeitted their rights to host a home final. This has been an issue for a few years now. I could be worng, but I believe that this is the case.

Ah, would make sense. Didn't think it would be a cash issue. Cheers.

Just out of interest footynut, have Broadview re-appointed Burgess for next year.

Spoke with a couple of the Broadview boys & they are filthy with Merritt, referred to him as a dog, which seems a fair assessment given the information that was passed onto to me. No umpires sighted the "incident" the only "witness" was that female trainer for Gaza the one who sports a pink dyed streak in her hair... The whole thing stinks Merritt has certainly broken the unwritten code. Zanker must have been on the ground to be able to land a head-but between Merritt's massive ears fair height discrepancy...

Can confirm that Merret is known as the squealing pig out at Broadview and you reckon if he plays on next year he won't get away with anything less than a barrage of abuse and physicality when they play each other. Apparently they were letting Broadview hopefully beat Goodwood , then the compaint was lodged and the invesitagtion went ahead after Danny had already played a game, not sure how you can get suspended for 5, when you have already played 1 game after the 'incident', very very poor form from Merret and Gaza. Have known him to give some cheap shots on the field, Karma might hopefully pay him a visit.

Heard that he resigned on Saturday after the game, was told he has put his hand up for the West Adelaide job, being a past player, and that he is in with a reasonable chance of getting the job. Wanted to concentrate on that possibility but also not to leave Broadview hanging.

There is a difference between having a cheap shot and setting someone up to suit your own circumstances. It doesn't surprise me for Gaza though.

Agreed, but doesn't make Merrets actions in this case any more honourable.

Probably not, but I am sure there are plenty of players with smiles on their faces knowing that the footy gods have caught up with Zanker.

The thing that has got me stuffed, is how a player can lodge a complaint a week after the game and get a hearing and suspension on only the player's and accused evidence??? Sets a pretty dangerous precident don't you think. Lose a game by 5 goal, cry foul of an incident and get a player suspended. Could become a regular occurance.
