Just a shame majority of the 45 names come from 4 clubs... not new names.

What are the 4 clubs?

Central United and Eastern Park would account for half of them I’d say.

Maybe throw in Angle Vale.......is there still a strong connection there.

A few also went to Elizabeth didn't they?

Units, Eastern Park and Angle Vale the big 3.

Off top of my head you have Micky and Jamie Lane, Tony Lane, Luke Stewart, James Bain, Peter Dempsey, Dean Steele, Mark Garner, Shaun Grogan and Scott Webber at Units with ties to Smithfield. Leigh McCormack's kids play at Smithfield too I'm pretty sure?

Adam Varcoe, Ron Kite, Jordy Ashby, The Twins, Matty Stewart at Angle Vale.

Thompson, Hanuman, Schugmann, Gray, Owen - Eastern Park.

How'd I go?

D6 Medal Top 10 Votes
17 - Patrick O'Dea (Marion)
16 - Cameron Matters (TOS)**
16 - Domenico Barilla (TOS)
16 - Jack Matthews (TOS)
14 - Dene Steele (Brahma Lodge)
14 - Llewellyn Milera (West Croydon)
12 - Dan Readon (Rosewater)
11 - Heath Rusby (Fitzroy)
10 - Grant McLeod (Marion)
09 - Zac Angel (Marion)
09 - Devin Payne (Ingle Farm)
09 - Dean Steele (Central United)
09 - Dion Doolan (West Croydon)
09 - Dylan Winning (TOS)

No surprises really in that list - except surprised that Braydon Abbott isn't in there. Matters suspension potentially cost him the medal - incredible that 3x players from the same side tied in 2nd.

Milera, Readon, Rusby, Payne, Doolan all deserve to be in there as well - enjoyed their games this seaosn.

D6R Medal Top 10 Votes
23 - Matt Perry (TOS)
23 - Sean Bayzand (Marion)
19 - Shane Cosenza (Central United)
18 - Luke Nicholls (West Croydon)
11 - Matt Purcell (Central United)
10 - Ryan Wade (Marion)
09 - Gordon Weetra (Fitzroy)
08 - Jordan Wanganeen (Rosewater)
08 - Harrison Davey (Marion)
08 - Joshua Harris (West Croydon)
08 - Hayden Fletcher (Rosewater)

Congrats to Pez on winning the medal - one of the good guys at TOS 8) ;) and to Bayzand - 23 votes from 12 games is ridiculous effort!

Surprised by Nicholls - how he failed to collect the 3 votes in Rd 12 against Ingle Farm i'll never know, bloke's foot would've been close to falling off he had that much off it!

In all counts across the grades this year, it's interesting to see how much love forwards appear to be getting for kicking the goals.

Yep, Leigh coaches @ Smithfield and played his juniors there as well as some seniors, I think he's hanging them up now anyway.

Out of you Units list I wouldn't think Garner or Webber would end up back at Smithfield, I'd imagine Mark would wanna finish off where he started and Scott didn't play a lot in his last couple of years registered @ Smithfield, I could be wrong though.

You missed Michael Gollan @ Angle Vale, gaining the twins would be huge, they are great lads that people like to be around, they seem pretty comfortable at their current home though, Matty Stewart is approaching 50 games at AV and they are improving each year so it might keep him there, HQ suggests that he's played 91 @ Smithfield (which I thought would be more), if he plays his cards right he could get a banner at both clubs next season

It will all come down to who they can land as a coach, it needs to be someone they all respect and will all play for, interesting times.

@whufc, only two went to the Beff and are now at Eastern Park.

It’s all online these days, no face to face counts.

What's your thoughts on that??

Our count up here was a good solid night that builds the grand final atmosphere. Albeit this year it went for a bit too long imo 6:30pm-10pm with heaps of speeches and the location was at Eudunda the furthest club away.

Is always good though to catch up with blokes you've played against all year and a couple of clubs were definitely enjoying the festivities.

Would also imagine it was a pretty decent money spinner for the host club which can only be a good thing.

If they were to bring back face to face counts would you do all divisions at the one venue one night or would you split them up at multiple venues.

Bit different when there are 20 odd grades compared with 2

Yeah absolutely thats why I can understand the online format and asked how you would do it in my last sentence. Would it be possible to make face to face counts work again and would players/clubs even want that???

Personally I think it’s ok online and just have your own club’s presentation night as the formal occasion

Online counts came about because people weren’t interested in attending in person.

To facilitate counts at multiple venues would be too hard and require too much man power.

The idea of online counts was also to encourage clubs to run their own function/event at their club - but that doesn’t really happen much I don’t think. Perhaps if clubs received access to the count ahead of the public it might encourage players to attend the club to view - but no guarantee on that.

Online works, people are too time poor and some can’t afford to be spending a night out for a count. You can sit home and scroll through the various counts you wish, and miss the ones you don’t care for without fuss.

See, im a bit old fashioned, i loved the days of cramming into the function room and catching up with people from different clubs and divs as they filtered in and out throughout the night.

Not a fan of D1 online only.

You're also in the minority.

I'm sure everyone loved the nights when they attended.. didn't change the fact they were poorly attended by the end.

Maybe they could do a live count for D1 and D2 only?
