and before anybody starts on me, it's not an excuse as I expect us to win regardless.

Understand, you guys were definitively a different side to when we payed you first time round. It would actually be a fair excuse to be honest. Of course you go in wanting a win but if you haven't got the guys available it will make it a tough ask.

I am unsure that you read Finn's post correctly Fourth Estate.

There was no forfeit or any intention of forfeiting now or ever in any grade.

Each team at the Blacks strives for success.

Was just about to say the same, there was never a mention of a forfeit on the day just thought that between the two sides they could have at least three on the bench for each game rather than possibly a full one in the Div 8 res side. Pretty hard to run out a game with no bench and expect to win.

i understand that part but they need to sort their gradings out where they have a higher and lower grade sitting between them (D8) and their (D8R) side.

Sorry Tex, everyone's back now :D . Just got the usual "outs" with injuries as every team does this time of year. Looking forward to the weekend.

Huge game this wkend out at Park 9. IMO whoever wins the game this Saturday will finish in 3rd spot and the lucrative double chance.

Gradings are sorted out I'd have thought with c1 being a mostly harder grade than 6 reserves and definitely harder than 8 reserves (ie c grade sides being generally more difficult than d grade sides in 8 reserves) and div 8 being harder than 6 reserves as well.

I think that you are right, with the run home of us and PAOC we have the slightly easier one, PAOC have Gepps Cross, Broadies and North Haven. Agree that Salisbury is the real danger one for us, they pushed us out there and have beaten PAOC and UNI in the last few games - having seen UNI on the weekend that is understandable if they had a few out however.

Div 8 is a great comp with really all the top 5 capable of taking it out!

Can Salisbury pinch 5th if UNI drop anymore games?

SALISBURY 5/8 (50%) / ADEL UNI 6/6 (46%)

at Mitcham / vs Gepps Cross
vs SMOSH / at Broadview
at G/Grove / Vs Nth Haven
BYE / at SMOSH

Think our slow start might cost us, having said that if we can win all three then probably deserve to make the 5. 2 out of 3 might be enough but will need Gepps cross or Nth Haven to win at Uni.

Tex, Hefty, I was just told your D's have forfieted against us this weekend. Bit disappointing. Numbers obviously not good, how are your C's looking numbers wise?
With Gepps also forfieting, we now have two weeks off in a row, not a great lead in to finals.

Deffinately disappointing, the D grade have been struggling to get numbers on the park for the last 4 or so weeks, they have called on some old players who have come out of retirement to help, i think last week there was as many as 14. In the C grade we are OK, have a couple of injuries and unavailability this weekend, might have a few more available now that the D grade have had to forfiet. Never good to have to forfiet but I am sure they would have done thier all to get a team out there.

Yeah, thats a bummer, happens though. I know our D's were looking forward to the clash. C's will be a good game though, Park 9 was a mud heap at training, and the rain is still falling. Bring your flippers!

Unfortunately I will be one of the injuries this week so I wont be playing but we are keen as for the game. The mud may suit us this week because you guys were that but too fast last time out.

It's probabl;y more of a reflection on our A's and B's though. With 9 out in the A's and 8 out in the B's that's almost a full side missing, and that doesn't include C grade players who also have a fair few injuries. Never been in that position before and it's disappointing... Apologies to the PAOC boys...
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Agree with Choccies I wasnt aware of the actual number of guys out in the higher grades, sounds silly but we are actually in not a bad position, A, B and C grade are all going to play finals and unfortunate for the D grade as they have been the ones that have suffered, that is how it is supposed to happen anyway. When all players are back spots will become tight again. It has been good for some of our regular younger C grade players who have been given opportunities to play in the B grade which may not have come otherwise.

Disappointing day all round for the Reds today. D's had a forfiet win (no one likes getting a week off like this), and the C's got run over by a good GG outfit, 8-7 to 7-7. We were up and about early and lead at each change except the one that counts. Conditions were heavy and prob suited the bigger Grove bodies. The double chance is really up for grabs now.
Well done to the Grovers, another good game against us. There's been a couple of rippers in recent years.

Was a good hit out, thought we were gong to have a bad day after the first two goals went your way but we settled down and came home that bit stronger. The games between us have always been fairly close and always played in pretty good spirits. I thought Brooks did a pretty good job as umpire to yesterday. Again we never want to forfeit any games and the guys from the D grade that were available feel your pain trust me. We still need to win all our remaining to take your third spot, as do you guys, any one drops one and it is gone. We have the easier run home now with all sides out of the finals race and you guys have Broadview in there so it will be close.
