Park 9 is terrible at the minute, the A's and B's chewed into it yesterday, and with any rain this week, it wont suit either sides fast running game plans. Bring it on regardless.

Not sure why, but something inside me tells me that Uni may have had a few more unavailable due to exams than Salisbury.....
Bullshit. You lie.

had SMOSH on the weekend and after this game they dont look as unbeatable as I previously thought. They got the jump on us and kicked 6 before we got past half forward. We pegged it back to be within 20 at half time.
I am not saying he is a cheat, but their umpire is horrible. I used the word cheat to one of their players Saturday and he said "he is not a cheat, just really bad". About sums him up.
I will say when an umpire uses the words "our free" when signalling a SMOSH free kick it does raise some eyebrows. He is supposed to be impartial I would have thought? SMOSH would have won the game regardless, not saying he cost us, but it doesn't help when he sits in our forward line and lets blatant hanging on to the FF go on all day, no wonder our FF eventually had enough and lost his $hit! Then he gets sent off. What happens now is SMOSH seem as though they get the free ride and comments come out about finals and SAAFL umpires blah blah blah, heard it all before in our D grade, I know that the guys from SMOSH were confused by some of his decisions.
SMOSH still the side to beat but they could have put us away and to our own credit they didn't.

Mate its Division 8 football, your not gonna get any decent umpires and you can easily complain for one reason or another about the oppositions umpire all day long. It happens all the time, sending a player off for calling the umpire a cheat or swearing and then there club does the same and they let it go.its happened before it will happen again and to be successfull you need to find a way to overcome it and not worry about it

Disagree with you big whopper.......it gets down to the individual umpire and their ability to be unbiased / impartial. Our club umpire on the weekend was great and almost favours the opposition to not appear to be biased to un. Uni's umpire was also good.

Teams that rely on a "cheating" club umpire to win games, generally get caught out come finals time.

I disagree, a club umpire can change a game in many ways. In this instance I think what got many of us frustrated was him using the term "our free" and not paying free kicks to our FF when they were clearly there. In my opinion SMOSH dont need the help they are good enough without it, all a guy like him does is makes people question where they are at and how they got there. Trust me, I played in our D grade last year and we had the same thrown at us. As Latte Lad said sides can get found out come finals time.

Yeah it was a strange result lots of points kicked on a decent day. The last two weeks we have been slaughtered with some injuries and players not available in the higher grades which has caused some pain for our C and D grade, we are feeders for those grades so these things happen, we were pleased to win last week and get within 8 of SMOSH this week, never like losing but we had some last minute ring ins for us so we could field a D grade side, should have four really strong sides in the next few weeks leading up to finals.

Was a weird day for kicking on Saturday. We slotted 4.18 in the afternoon game and din't have one rushed behind. :? We also did some fundamental errors like kicking into the man on the mark four times within thirty metres of goals...PAOC were always in front though.

Big Round this one

first Vs Second as smosh take on the tigers at Broadview. The tigers looking to avenge the 15pt loss last time and hopefully both teams near full strength since a special horse isnt racing in adelaide this weekend and more players available

Plus GG are in a bit of form and will be a good game against Uni for that 4th spot

The Reds take on rivals Mitcham on their dung heap. Had some great battles with them in recent times, always look forward to playing them.

Pretty sure paoc will win comfortably no matter on ins and outs or the condition of their "dung heap". Hopefully we can beat north haven for 4 out of 5. If we did this in first half of season our year would be very different.

Finn what has happened to your side in the second part of the season? Deffinately was a different side on the weekend compared to the first time around? Will you get the side back together before finals?
You would need to get them back sooner really, you wouldnt want to drop many more, Salisbury are starting to get some good wins together and would be keen as to pinch that 5th spot.

We were expecting a lot tougher game to be honest, could see your numbers struggled, but how come your Div8 res side had a full bench and you guys struggle to get numbers on the park?

I like the set up this year, thought that we were going to be way out of our depth at the start being a Div 4 C grade playing against Div 1, 2 and 3 C grades sides but we are happy with where we are sitting at the minute. I just thought it strange on Saturday that UNI struggled in thier Div 8 side for numbers and had a heap in Div 8 Reserves. I know that they are set up as different sides etc, but in this comp they are the reserves side for the Div 8 side, they cant not field a Div 8 side but field a Div 8 reserves one. Finn is the coach yeah? It would be tough having to do the ring around when there is a full team playing beforehand.

How is the lads nose Finn? Kind of have not a lot of sympathy for him, he attempted to take a player out, that player being me, I have a massive head so he was always going to come off second best there ;) I have a large lump in the side of my head so I can imagine his nose would be kind of sore.

We had twenty three early saturday morning then eight pulled out leaving the ring around as the only option plus the players who doubled up. A major problem is that the c1 side and 6 reserves sides are between div 8 and 8 reserves in our clubs pantheon so to ensure the players in 8 reserves qualify correctly they play there.

We've struggled for numbers all year with many long term injuries down the grade plus quite a few doing the fly in fly out jobs; the overwhelming majority of our country lads have also disappeared back home during holidays. Everytime i think I've enough life gets in the way and throws up things that the younger players would prefer to do. This exacerbated a situation in that over 20 out of c1 grand final team from 2011 are not playing in the same grade with only about 7 still playing at the club.

It's annoying but it's one of the challenges we face at Uni.

Unfortunately the Mitcham "dung heap" is due to Sturt A grade district cricket club setting it up for a fast track during summer from Sept 1 to March 31, plus poor drainage that the council has little time to rectify between the codes. I have coached there and it is probably one of the worst winter grounds in Saafl. Shame really because they are a great club.

High time Uni sorted themselves out then with where your sides sits. Probably wouldn't hurt to learn the rules. If you can't field a D8 side then every side below you in SAAFL gradings then has to forfeit. Goodwood tried this in 1996 and were slapped over the wrist for it. Then the league changed the rules that you cannot forfeit a higher grade but your lower sides play.
Might be time to change some of the thinking out at Uni.

Not having a slag at Uni so no offence intended but might be time for a re think on your gradings.

I know both of our sides are enjoying playing together again after several years apart. makes life so much easier.

Lets hope we can keep the D8 & D8r going next year.
