Dont slag and bag but get off your arse and lift your own standards to match those around you
Candyman, with your wise knowledge of fundraising and all, could you tell me how we could improve to match the income of a having a room full of pokie machines? Bear in mind our clubroom is a one- room building, and so we can't have pokies unless we want to ban our juniors from the club.

Get Mike Rann to build a creche for the kids and another bar for the non-users. He's your no 1 man isn't he?

Not giving a solution to all of your problems and how to raise money. It is just that clubs like Gepps and Salisbury North and various others had a vision that this would work and have run with the Pokies and various other forms of raising money. I just get jacked off with people slagging clubs like them who have done everything right in how to run their club and then the - TALL POPPY SYNDROME takes over and you guys want to slag them for being successful. Kind of the Australian way of doing things "If successful - bag em and slag em". Gepps seem to manage very well with possibly the best junior set up in Adelaide and still have Pokies. They have two different rooms that cater for different events - Simple.
Not trying to bag other clubs here Pag - just trying to get people off the band wagon of slagging those who do things well. We as Aussies just try to knock anyone who does things right and "has a go". We want to chop them down. Lets not lower the bar - let every other club in the Amateur League try to match the Salisbury North's and Gepps Cross's of the world. For years people did this to the Port Magpies and now to Central District - WHY?????? because they are a success and we cant have people or clubs who are successful can we??????
TOO MANY JEALOUS PEOPLE OUT THERE IF SOMEONE IS SUCCESSFUL AND A CLUB IS WELL RUN AND MAKING MONEY

And another thing - clubs like Gepps have worked hard to do things well. Have not had continuous hand outs from the Government, Clubrooms built, New Gymnasium, Lights etc, etc, etc and a whole host of other things like Kilburn. Look at a club like them who have had everything given to them and a rubber stamp at Local Council to get what they want and still they are a disaster zone. Clubs like Kilburn have really fostered the growth of Juniors in the area - pigs arse. At least clubs like Gepps and others are trying hard to foster junior development and create a well run club. Had a gutsful of clubs like Kilburn who get given the world and do nothing with it and then clubs like Gepps and Salisbury North who work their arses off and get what they deserve - and still pricks keep slagging them. Enough is enough. Good luck to both of them if they get a D1 Premiership in the next few years as they have put in the hard yards. Not like some!!! - Have been to your club out there at Salisbury, Pag and you are well run and have fabulous meals, great social life, people who get off their arses and do things. Not having a crack at you sport just hate the people who slag off the more successful clubs just because they have done things right

Glad to see you ignored Nearly Was' well thought out post pansyman.

Kilburn haven't fostered juniors in the area? What about Rhys O'Keefe who will probably be drafted very soon? What about numerous junior premierships and underage state reps? Kilburn has a very proud junior history. Granted the juniors have dropped off but as Nearly Was mentioned, that was largely due to factors outside the club's control and people are trying hard to remedy the situation.

The gym is there for the entire community to use. Darryl Tuck runs it and gives up a lot of his time to help the local kids of various ethnic backgrounds work out.

Maybe the hard work is why the club has won three div 1 premierships and suffers from tall poppy syndrome that you mentioned then conveniently forgot while talking about Kilburn.

Like I said before, worry about Christies Beach mate. You couldn't even make the finals in div 5 you hypocrite.

Dont talk shit Shrek. The gym is purely for the Kilburn Footballers. You have been given the bloody lot by the council and rubber stamped over many years. For a club who has been fortunate to be given millions. YES MILLIONS EVERYONE. Your club is absolute bloody disgrace and still think you have some degree of credability. That is not Tall Poppy Syndrome as you are not a "Tall Poppy". You are a sad insignificant little club who still lives on the glory of decades ago. Get used to D3 - because you will be there for a while. Christes are a little club but dont promise much - the mighty Kilburn however still think they are a powerhouse. How sad for a little club where you are not a Tall Poppy. As I said you are a sad little place in the middle of nowhere destined for what you deserve. Division 3. Just stay there and shut up - YOU DONT SUFFER FROM TALL POPPY SYNDROME SHREK - because you are a sad, insignifcant little nothing

Candy who in the hell do you think you are. What gives you any insight into Kilburn. Are you aware that Kilburn members built there own Clubrooms originally and it was a council decision to tear it down . You know bugger all about our Club and would be better suited discussing your own Cliub in your own league. If you happen to be in the area pop in and have a workout in our community gym. <edited.... how old are you? 10?>.

We see him for about half an hour each presentation night. I think his title is 'No. 1 Ticketholder', but I wouldn't know how/how much he helps financially.

Candyman, I'm not having a shot at Gepps either, good on them for being successful, and the combination of plenty of income and excellent juniors means they should be up there for a long time to come, was just saying some clubs can't get a massive grant to re-develop their clubrooms to fit pokies in. Play on.

Mike Rann's office and electorate is the Salisbury area, and he has known a couple of members of our committee for a very long time. A member of Salisbury council is usually there too.
