Realistic numbers please

well said and very true. but we also expect any club to deny any rumours about how much a bloke is getting paid.

only those involved in each deal know the truth!

One recruit Henley has is Luke Duncan from the Eagles.
He's returning after a year with the Eagles, surprised in a way as i saw him play some good games with the Eagles once he made it in the league team.
Why would you want to give up an opportunity like that to go back to Amatuers?
Must of been offered something to good to refuse.

Can confirm Thompson offered $200 and accepted from Gepps. Has anyone heard if Heuskes is going back to Gepps as the only thing supposedly stopping him goin back 2 years ago was their footy director and he is no longer there. The bar manager was very dirty on that at the time and caused a big stink. He is also the source of the Thompson confirmation and says he is back in the know with Roey as coach.

Duncs very much does love a few frothies.
Blokes got a lot of talent - Reflex, he had a good year at Port and then signed off. What's the deal mate?
Bloody talented player he is.

Wow that's a huge call footynut and i am sure when Aceman reads this he is likely to have some sort of comment.....

Probably not a good idea for the manager to tell people what players have signed for.....Should the manager of the sports and social club even know what players are getting paid????

Yes That is the reason Hueskes didn't return a couple of years ago however haven't heard he is making a comeback this year...

From all reports down this way, it seems that Heuskes will be pulling on the boots for Encounter Bay again.

Boys, please stop the 'dreamtime'! The bar manager does not know nor would he tell anyone if he did what players are getting. we hear ridiculous numbers thrown around every year from players in every club, what does it achieve? It gets the ill-informed talking rubbish about things they have no idea about. Fair go Men!!!
You got 1 thing right,, the former Footy Director cum runner was the reason Huey didn't go back to Gepps, he wanted to but the coach & F. D. pulled rank. They will both tell you today that he was not going to be any value. I know who was the better value for the club

This has got to be a joke. From what i know Shane Ellen is falling apart!! I can reveal more however... he played a few games recently (within the last 3 months) and did 2 hamstrings and a 1 calf.

Still dominated though!! But could not play div 1.
Probably should have posted this news in the div 4-5 threads boozehound. As he could still make a big impact at that sort of level. :)

Hey Aceman does that mean Heuskes is going back to play at Gepps now? Shouldnt be anything holding him back now then.
You are wrong about your barman. He loves to brag to us at Broadies about what you can afford and are spending on players, even if you spent more than you could afford a couple of years ago and had to get someone to bail you out to pay the players. This I got from one of your players.

When Jacko was with Gepps, he didn't believe in paying players the money the club were b4 him.
Some were on the $500 a game & base fees eg-(Carter,Steed,Holmes.Heuskes,Leys)
Imagine how far over the salary cap they were.
When team mates got wind of it, a few started to depart.
The big name players filled there pockets up & p!ssed off in the end, to Pt Dist, Encounter Bay, RMSU ? or something like that.
Jacko was encouraging players to play for the right reasons & when a premiership didn't come in 2 years, they got rid of him.
It shows now what a stupid decision it was & it will cost the club, but the hyreichy think its the way to go paying big $$$.
we all know aceman Gepps pay over the top, you can't hide from that.

First of all you can take Huey out of the "Money and Run" category. He is Gepps through and through and would have been on less there than he could have got elsewhere. Can't say I disagree with the rest tho...

Not sure how much you know about Jacksons reign however on field success, or lack there of, was not the sole reason they parted company. Personality clashes (as per usual at Gepps), unhappy players and Jacksons player management skills where all contributors I'd say. You're right Jackson was a big believer in paying less and this was probably his best attribute. Very intense coach and I doubt players at Div 3 level will accept this side of him, but I stand to be corrected this season. Don't think he will be a huge loss to the club considering they seem to have found a more than capable replacement that from all reports the players are quite happy with.

Well you're right with one thing, Huey would have been much better value. Great player but also on field leader and club man.
That is about all you are right on though. The rest, in relation to payments and bar manager etc, are utter bullocks. Bar manager Very Much in the know down there and does have a habit of letting things slip. Lets not kid ourselves here.

Boys, we will agree to disagree on most of the previous posts re who got or is getting paid what but I say again, not too many players or club administrators reveal their correct worth or the real value of a player to a club. You can all summize till your blue in the face but speculation only festers discussions such as this sight is created for.
The club will tell anyone,Adam Heuskes coached & played for absolute peanuts compared to what he was offered elsewhere and they would love to have him back, however now he's played elsewhere, that seems unlikely. One thing I do know about AH is he is an extremely loyal person. He loves & enjoyed his time there.
I am told Steve Carter & Alf Steed were worth whatever they got in their time, they did what was required in protecting the young guys ( Clonan etc.)who were getting smashed by the bigger bodies in A1 in the first year & above all, they gave most back over the bar anyhow.
Speculation on who got or gets paid what is just that, don't take it all to heart cause most players have overrated egos and like to pump up their own tyres, some of the numbers you hear around the place are bloody ridiculous, you just have to be smart enough to work out who is honest or otherwise. Keep it comin'

footynut, not sure how long you've been with Broadies but that's how they have survived for many years, getting bailed out by Trevor Thain was a regular occurence down your way.

Boozehound, your comment about Sean Jackson not wanting to pay big money for players gives me 'goosebumps'. Was that because he was afraid there would not be enough left in the kitty for him & his mates or what? It's funny the things that surface after the event, just keep on believing what you hear on the grapevine. The best I've found to come off the grapevine so far is turned into Taylors Cab Sav.

Didn't say that I heard it on the grape vine, that was my impression of him first hand. Didn't have too many other positives to say about him so chose not to say much at all, if you get the idea.
