Very good performance by Portland on the weekend, to come from 5 down and win was a great effort.
I think after half time there were quite a few 50/50 free kicks that went Portlands way, but i am not sure there were 8 goals from unwarranted free kicks. If you get infront and are first to the ball you get free kicks.
I was really impressed with Ellis from Mitcham in the last quarter, i thought he really stood up and was almost the difference.
Lipson and Granlese were outstanding for Portland.

You might know this Slots. Is that the same Brett Ellis that plays footy and also cricket for Sturt?

I've played Cricket, Footy and school rugby (where in got two best on grounds two years in a row when we played Unley high in a play off final) against him. Very good allround sportsman. Always wondered who his his local club was.

I'm not usually one to complain about umpires, or blame them for a loss, but they really cost us on Saturday with some horrible decisions in the second half.

Laslett played a loose man back most of the game and got plenty of it, was very good for Portland as usual. Frank down back was also pretty good, but made me drop my mouth guard in the dirt twice - not happy!

Younger Lipson could learn a little from his big brother, he might only be 17 but if he wants to play with the big boys he'll need to toughen up a bit, copped the tiniest bump on the way back to the goal square after a goal, and went down like an sack of sh*t, came up basically in tears.

Doyle and Muffler Elis were great for us, as was Wyld down back. Really missed Flaners in the middle and Quin & White up forward, but fair to say both sides had a few significant outs.

If Westies not shaking of Thorntons hand back a year or so ago was seen as a lack of respect, I don think it wasn't misinterpreted - the guy doesn't deserve any. Actually calls him a dickhead and gives him the finger before the game, not someone I'd want leading my football club.

Who cares what the supporters have to say, I've never been at a game where people are drinking and things don't go a little over the top.

This whole post reeks of sour grapes. Umps cost you nothing, if you blokes were tougher in the last quarter, and were maybe coached better, you may have won.

If Thornton was leading your footy club, you might not be Portland's bitches and may have an A grade premiership in the last couple of years, instead of the 'magnificent' B grade side you have !!!

I dont fire up on here easily, but quit making excuses and worrying about Thornton. Its starting to get extremely sad.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Frankly there is going to be bias concerning the outcome of the game. I guess some just have the humility to accept a loss, or a win, however it comes. Can't find much written affronting you blokes as a club, however you seem to have little difficulty in criticising mine. Show some respect and you may get some in return. Personally I have a lot for the Portland players, but some supporters let your club down.

Make whatever you will of this post, undoubtably you'll feel slighted about whatever is written.

My main issue is that you all seem more than happy to attack Thornton on here (when no one knows who you are), but are as quiet as church mice when you are face to face with him. Its nothing to do with disliking Mitcham or not. Its about backing up a mate of mine, and a bloke who has done more for the Portland Footy Club than probably anyone else in recent time. Thats my beef Stretch, end of story. Im not asking for your respect, or even want it.

im glad you said this because yes im the first to admit our crowd are very vocal and at times take it a touch to far but what about your supporters that set up camp directly being our coaches box and sh!t canned our coaches all day, i wish people like that would say some of the things to the coaches and players face when the game is finished but no there all to gutless when they might be made accountable for what they have said i love the crowd gettign in to me, but some of the stuf i heard on the weekend even shocked me (which is hard to do)
and remember earlier this year when there was a scuffle in the B grade one of your supporters lent over the fence and threatened to stab one of our players involved. have a quick look closer to home before you start giving others advice

You probably dont find yourself easily shocked anymore as you surround yourself with Portland supporters everyweek. I think its pretty bloody rich that the lads from Portland are telling the rest of the competition what their supporters can and can't do. Any advice Portland recieves about supporters behaviour should be taken on board.

at no stage did i say our supporters were angels and if you re read my last post it did say they step over the line at times, but as you may have noticed they set up camp in the same place every week at home and try and find a spot were there not going to upset women and children and officials at away games.

i just dont agree with setting up camp behind a teams coaches box and hurling abuse at coaches trying to do there jobs, like i said i wish those blokes that were so tough from 30 feet away with a fence between them grew a pair and had the courage to come in for a beer after the game

Iggies by 15 points. Portland to fight and scrap for everyhting in the wet weather, but white to be the difference with 4 goals.
B Grade:
SMOSH to win by 37 goals. Greg scott to kick 35 of them and keep Seaton Scoreless.

as good as lippo was last week it was his first game that he has influenced this years as he has only played 3 and i think its fair to say we have gone pretty well without him, Young Dammon Mccoloch was very stiff to be ommitted last week and is a quality young forward, and after training tuesday night another big forward is pushing for a spot so by no stretch doom and gloom and with the return of Birdy that should cover the whole moods left.

in a perfect world with lippo and moods fireing our side is much better but obviously at this time of the year every club gets injuries and you have to deal with it.
im sure Iggies wont have a full list to choose from either as i have heard whiteman will struggle to get up.
