I can only laugh when, after having footy forcibly (and rightly) taken away from us, there would still be players who decide that money for football is still more important than just football.

Sanfl are on job keepers. I know of a young lad that is fringe reserves/community footy level getting $750 per week. Some of the top players may take a slight pay cut but most have actually increased their payments considerably.
Heard there is over 30 players on job keeper at some clubs. That's $22,500 per week which is more than the salary cap.
Based on that Sanfl players as a whole are actually getting more.[/quote]

Personally it is a disgrace that 2nd rate footballers are payed tax payers money to play footy !

Isn't this still TBC?

If no one can be paid my tip is we will see a massive influx of players look to move back to their 'junior/home grown' club for one year. I already know of a couple of players who said they will do this if they cant be paid.

If there is no payments allowed you would think the premiership teams will be those that can manage to hold onto most of their players the best.

Would the league consider a season where they play for flags but no relegation/promotion.

They have already said there wont be promotion or relegation this year

If there is no promotion/relegation what’s stopping clubs doing a Adelaide Lutheran and stacking there lower sides.

Integrity?

Or the fact no one gives a **** about B/C grade flags - A grade is where it's at.

if the country leagues are cancelled or if they aren't paying players that is when you know a lot of clubs will be stacked with talent. I know Kilburn will probably win the flag if that happens.

If a player is contracted to a club for say 3yrs and the SANFL decides no payments, does that mean clubs/player can go on job keeper too?

Surely these days most players have jobs that would exclude them from JobKeeper?

Great time to be a uni student on the fringe of an SANFL list though!

Reckon some clubs are taking the pi55, and they (or the players) are going to get in big trouble. Have heard Centrals and Norwood the only clubs not done this. Other clubs have 35 players signed up to Job keeper, that is $18000 per player or over $600k. Lots of these players have full time jobs like teachers, physios, tradies etc. This is NOT what the Job keeper was for, and cant wait for the clubs to get busted. Saying they are playing for nothing is a dead set joke!

Don't think the sign on fee counts as a valid contract in this league

Can confirm Centrals have most definitely furloughed their players as paid employees, and approx. 35-40 contracted players are on JobKeeper.

Its not up to the clubs or players who get it. Its like every business in Australia, you can apply then its determined by the government and ATO who is eligible. No one can scam the system

Well I know of several players who have full time jobs and they are getting Job Keeper thru the club due to contracts the SANFL made them sign. Rules state if you have full time job you cannot claim Job keeper. Yep, that's a SCAM!!
