Through the ex Gaza players alone I count 18 points, plus another 6 points I think from Riverland recruits. Have these players being made aware of this and that they may have to play numerous games in the b grade (like recruits last year had to) in order to keep the team under the points allocation in particular games?
If all these players could play in the 1 side, then give them the premiership now. No way in hell could any defenders stop both Heinze and Fisher as their 2 key gun forwards. They would both be unstopable in div 2.

add in another 4 points from brighton and 8 points to carry over from last year means the As Bs and Cs and probably Ds gonna be playing in GF

They tend to worry about that (the points issue) later. Their B and C grades will continue to play in GFs (with their Bs carrying many more points than their As) and their A grade will be middle of the road. There will be many disgruntled players. Until the Cats sort themselves out and focus on getting their juniors back to play seniors, they'll yo-yo between D2 & D3

In the past we may have struggled to establish ourselves in Divsion 2 but to call us a "yo-yo" club now might be a little off the mark seeing 2013 will be our 4th year in Division 2 after winning a premiership in 2009 in Division 3. We had one disgruntled player leave last year who went to the SFL and after reading the SFL forum he appears to have already left that club after only one year of service so you can read in to that what you will. Solid numbers at our first training back for the year last night and there is an air of excitement down at the Cattery.

do you think Walkerville even tell these players from the country that they have a points problem. When we try and recruit players most are totally unaware of the points system. We had 3 brothers and a mate want to come to our club, but we would have had 25 points so we miss out. It's fine to offer players money to play, but then tell them at some stage during the season that they can't fit in so play B grade. What happens to the player payment? Just bad luck, blame the system?

We have a points problem?

Yes we have had a strong B Grade the past few years and there have plenty of points players playing in the Bs but just because a player is worth points doesn't mean they should be playing As. We have plenty of country lads at our club. If a young guy comes to the city for Uni and played As back home he is worth 2-3 points but not too many 18 year olds walk straight in to a Division 2 A Grade team.

Pretty sure the new players this season are aware of this. The new players last season were made aware that their allocated points could see them play B grade, and like Hairy Cat said only 1 guy got upset about his lack of opportunities and left. But it would seem he's becoming the new M Cox.

And if a player would rather crack a hissy fit about not playing A grade than actually knuckle down and do the hard yards to get in the A's then he can move on. Dont want players like that at my club

Well it seems silly then not to continue with a winning system then.
As I said earlier, their best 21 would be a certainty to take out the div 2 flag. It's just a pity that points may only allow them to play their best 12 ;)

The Cats really went downhill when D Fromm departed. No surprise really.

Do you think it possible that anyone other than Kilburn or Port District or Geeps Cross could beat Walkerville this year? All 4 sides look great this year

Sounds like a super side that the club has put together, and will be hard to beat

You are kidding. They have a very, very good side at the Chics for 2013, and are extremely well coached. Just come off two flags and will be there in finals for sure.

Along with Walkerville, Port District, Gepps Cross and Sacred Heart OC, those 5 clubs would have be odds on favourites to round out the September action. Kilburn will be there for sure.

SMOSH, Flinders Park and PAOC will win plenty of games but might not be up there with the big 5.

Yardy lad believes that if he does everything in his power to promote kilburn as contenders instead of being the division 3 latest visitor, we will all start to forget theyre rookies to the div, and in time along the grapevine and in the pressbox anything said or written about kilburn will be highly exagerated cos of these seeds yardy lad is currently planting

then when chics face their next opponent the word on the street will say lookout kilburn are ones to fear

i do admire it tho cos it might just work

Maybe a little bit more truth to that rumour, i think he will still play but has just bought outright a business, so he will be no doubt be putting footy on the backburner while he concentrates on running the books. Huge loss for Gepps if he can't play much.

Ive also heard something similar to the above...

Was talking with Brodie last night and these rumours are just that!! He will be playing and work will not be an issue. Said he is keen as to get stuck into pre season and have a big year leading the Rams.
So to all oppostion sides unlucky he will be out there

Correct, except everyone on here knows it.
Always, no mention of Portland.
Finalist last year and will be again this year
