SAAFL Division 8 & D8R (2012)

Weirdly the best side we've played was PAOC who had an excellent mix of running talls that I thought would be able to match the strength of SMOSH (their forward line). The SMOSH chf is an excellent mark.
Broadview are usually very capable but do rely a lot on Ryan Juers to provide their drive.
Who knows what Uni will throw up on any given day; i'm the coach and I still have no idea. We've averaged approximately 9 changes per game through injury and unavailability but are sitting pretty much where we belong at the momen
8 rounds to go, I'd suggest the top three are reasonably secure and set.

Different team these days Finn - most of those blokes are playing B Grade due to injuries upstairs.
But, that's what they're there for

I think its pretty poor form for any side to start going on about who and how many they have out. Every side every week has ins and outs, we had 11 changes last week! If you lose, cop it on the chin and get on with the season.

We are really enjoying the challenge this season, having not really been challenged in the C's over the past 4 years.
With GG winning on the weekend, this makes the double chance spots wide open.

Anyone know what Gepps are doing with their D's?

BTW, Finn, I was just told that the PAOC v Uni games are being moved forward to 10:15 and 12:15 to allow the boys to head back across to BN#1 to watch A's

Just on our C Grade (SMOSH) - they're probably as strong as they've been all year in the last couple of weeks. There are some guys in the C Grade who i thought would be playing/Pushing for permanent A Grade spots. But as you guys would know, you're only only a few injuries/holidays away from ten changes.

Couldn't agree more LL about Broadview saying how many they had out etc...!! Maybe pay the opposition some respect in winning a bloody good game of footy. We were down all day and to win it in the last 5 mins of the game made it our best win for the season and cements us in the 5. Still some tough games to come with SMOSH @ home then the Reds away but the win on the wkend has definitley given the Burras a bit of confidence going into the second half of the season.

Agreed, every week sides lose players up grades to form or out through injury, the sides that do well are the sides that cover those losses. IMO SMOSH are still the best side we have played, we got spanked by them first time round. Our side has improved a heap since then and had some good players come in so we are looking forward to the challenge. Got to get through North Haven first and no side is easy beats at home!

LL i agree on the comp, it is great that it is tight, the last three to four years there has really only been 2 or 3 sides that dominate the comp and the rest make up numbers. At this point in the season all top 5 sides look like they could beat each other on any given day. The guys in the bottom four could provide an upset here and there also.

Good win for you boys Beef? Did us a favor and helped us move up the ladder a spot, well done!
We have had a good run and won 5 on the trot now, BIG task this week against SMOSH.

North Haven was a good win for us, it was ugly, we didn't play all that well, a few of us (include myself) are underdone and working back from injury so we will take that win but need to put in a big show this week against SMOSH. NH are not that bad either, got some good players and could upset a side later in the year. Would love it to be a PAC or UNI, we would love to sneak into that third spot for the double chance.

Div 8 is turning out to be a good comp, really like the format with both C and D grade at the same ground each week.

Was a good win for us. Pretty sure uni had a heap out. A lot of guys seemed to double up for both the d and c grade ( or e & f grades or whatever it is for them). Pretty scrappy but we just need to keep winning, some how we are now 6th after a terrible first half of the year. 2-0 so far on the return legs and hopefully 3 in a row against broadview this week.

Yeah, must say I was interested to see the Uni v Salisbury result. We have Uni this week, so is a big one for us to put more of a gap between us and them. Park 9 is terrible at the minute, the A's and B's chewed into it yesterday, and with any rain this week, it wont suit either sides fast running game plans. Bring it on regardless.

Plenty out but can only play with what's available. For some reason this year, many folk had saturday exams - i know it has affected a few clubs. Salisbury just used the ball better going forward and were more efficient on capitalising upon our mistakes than we were on theirs.
The thing that hurt was the hot water running out.... :)

That's because you always played in the first game of the day when there is plenty of hot water available ;)

Not sure why, but something inside me tells me that Uni may have had a few more unavailable due to exams than Salisbury.....
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.
