didn't care about the quality just laughed after reading this thread then logging on to FB and finding that photo

What are Bourkey's coaching credentials? Probably not hard to see why he may have been turned down for a Div 4 Senior coach role if he has only coached one year of senior footy in Div 7 with his team hardly setting the world on fire during that period.

Can hardly blame Fitzroy for that decision, especially if more experienced coaches applied.

It was hardly a difficult decision....Shane Mitchell or Chad Bourke. They chose wrong!

Anyone who has played against Bourke knows what on-field leadership and presence he has.
Simple decision, esp. considering he was going to take so many players across with him.
Will haunt Fitzroy more so in next couple of years when Glenunga wave as they past them up the grades... provided Bourke stays.
If his heart is with Fitzroy he will go back there before that happens.

Must say I would be somewhat annoyed if a past player was doing massive poaching, a player here or there but this is on a huge scale. The other side of it is have the roys been complacent in this and taken these players for granted. One more point would these guys have left if Mitch remained ???

Bourke never applied for the Fitzroy job this year or last as he did not want to coach his mates & wants to make his own mark on things where he new very little people to show what he can do.

The fact that some of his close mates wanted to play under him next season so between 6 & 8 players from 2010 maybe joining him across town for a variety of different reasons & Bourke was approached by them so u cant really say he poached them now as any Club that has a group of that many come to them wouldnt turn them away would they???

U ask if the Roys have been complacent in this & taken these players for granted? Well if by that u mean pay them a big amount of $$$ weekly to play & send the Club financially backwards for years to come i think not but good luck them all the boys we all move on.

Mitch left & took the Callington job & they didnt follow him so i think that answers your question & if it doesnt these boys decided to move on for a variety of different reasons so u cant hold anyone who doesnt want to play at your Club now can you?

Is an exciting time coming up at the Roys with Dasha & Hocko in charge & we are happy to go under the radar as ul see a new look Lions in 2011!

RL great explanation of the situation there. I think if the club pays players and they are not there for the right reason let them go.

Terry Bourke applied for the coaching job in 09, not Chad. That may be the confusion.
