Some good work in the off season at Brahma Lodge with 8 new signings....

Scott McIntyre (Salisbury West) - key forward
Daryl McIntyre (Salisbury West) - HBF
Brendan Smith (Onkaparinga) - CHF,CHB,Ruck
David Coomes (Salisbury North,South Gawler) - on baller
Tim Aloisi (Paralowie) - wing, small forward
Shane Cozenza (Eastern Park, Salisbury North) - on baller, small forward
Daniel Schell (Salisbury West) - utility
Mike Harrison (Scotland) Big dude thats never played aussie rules but has a soccer and rugby backround and likes to hit hard , should be good to watch.

Some very handy pick ups.

Scott Mc is an absolute gun! dominated in the 2nd game we played SW this year and surely will do the same in a lower div.
and didnt coomes play for SW as well this year?? hes a short bleached haired bloke isnt he? i know he use to play for Snth.
either way can still play the game if it the bloke im thinking of.

looks like SW might be in some trouble, what is all these blokes connection with the lodge?

I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Approx. 40 out on Monday night for Smithfield's first training session, the new coach seems to be very well structured and there has been some real positive feedback from the playing group.

It's hard for the clubs that don't pay their players, but hey, if you are in a position to be able to, go for it. Clubs find it hard to progress up the divisions without the coin, it's all very good while the money is coming in, what happens when it dries up, you start getting flogged each week as you are in a division that is too high for your playing group.

I doubt whether we will, you really need 100 on your books to go through with it, then there's coaches and support staff. I'm not saying we wont weigh it up if the numbers are there, but I think it would be highly unlikely at this stage.

With all these signings perhaps they won't choke in September this year......

Maybe with all Elizabeth's they might make the finals or maybe not!

 i know they are quality players as my above post said but im mearly stating that i think is kind of becoming a joke (the saafl this is) that div5 teams have to resort to paying a dozen blokes to come to there club. just to have a crack at going up.

this is in no way a crack a B lodge as i have no idea about the ins and outs of that club, but more a personal view at where the comp is headed.

and on the roo thing get over it, he sponsors are club and wants a game every couple of weeks, whos going to say no!?

There's been decent coin thrown around in div 6 & 7 aswell over the past couple of seasons.

Not this old chestnut

I find it always interesting when clubs talk about other clubs and how much they pay, perhaps this shows some insecurities in their own club administration coming through....

The simple answer is every club pays players in some way or another (yes even old scholar clubs), it all depends if what they pay is income generated as to how long term it remains, the fact for clubs to recruit quality players to their club sometimes requires payment, how much they get paid is up to the individual club.

The Lodge are probably a good point to look at, they recruited heavily last year, got promoted from Div 6 and from what I hear posted almost a $10,000 profit for the year, this coming of a $6,000 loss from the previous year when they hardly won a game...

If you structure it properly and have the right people involved, you make it work - simple as that.

Everyone should stop going on about it and if a club is recruiting to go as far as they can and can generate the funds to do it, then good on them, if you want your club to do it, jump on a committee.

The good thing is that the new player point system will limit clubs in how many players they can recruit so hopefully all the in-your-endo about clubs forking out millions will be finally put to rest :?

Best reply I have seen in a while..

I'm sure the premiership last year meant the world to him, unlike the guy that took his spot who just had to watch...

errrrrr - we were all allowed an extra bench for the GF plus the full back broke his hand the previous week so there were 2 extra spots up for grabs. With 3 teams in the GF, your comment looks even sillier - Maybe practice what you preach (a bit of research ) browny

Find me a PAOC player who has a gripe....I cant find one and isn't that all that matters?
