HDFC would like to announce the appointment of Brenton Klaebe as our Senior Coach for the 2017 season.

Brenton comes to our club with a wealth of footballing experience as a player and a coach ranging from grass roots footy right through to AFL.

We're extremely fortunate to have a candidate of his calibre and look forward to working with him to continue to improve as a club on and off field.

Really stoked with the reaction from people so far. It seems he's a bit more well known than I initially thought!

Feel for the bloke who got a life ban from
Brahma for accidentally running into an umpire.
Saafl again proving they got no common sense!

Nope wasn't there just reading the verdict the tribunal handed down

I've been ran into a few time whilst umpiring and while it does piss you off I wouldn't like to see players getting suspended from it.

It does get up my goat when onballers try to use me as a shield at stoppages, I'll point it out and let them know I'll be penalising players for doing so.

Based on the article how anyone could come to this decision is incomprehensible.

Surely the people who made this silly judgment will be held accountable.

Can see why many are calling for change to the SAAFL and its practices.

Such as?

Surely one of the key objectives for the immediate future is to build better relationships with key media figures. They've been slammed all year. Really disappointing to see.

im not to sure how many of you have actually been to a tribunal hearing but the people who sit on the tribunal are not stupid they ask the correct questions and get as much information as possible from all people involved

its easy to sit in here and knit pick rubbish it but they follow a set of rules you break them rules you pay the price the league has said all this year the player has a duty of care and will be held responsible compared to years gone by

What baffles me is why would anyone want to change the current saafl and its practices? The league has done a tremendous job in the last 4-5 years stamping out the violence while other leagues continue to go easy on it. I'd feel allot
Safer running out for a c grade now then 5 years ago

This has set a dangerous precedent. Players will be getting suspended left right and centre for a slight brush against the umpire.

Didn't a bloke get 20 years for assaulting an umpire as in punching him in the face.

This bloke gets life for 'avoidable' low grade contact.

Hello

Whilst they're not stupid, they are definitely big in their own lunchbox and should perhaps take a couple of humility pills.

Last one I sat in on as a player rep I got admonished because I nodded my head in agreement.

Would get better results and more engagement if they relaxed the atmosphere a bit.

Cuts both ways....one would agree?

Tribunal sit there with NO knowledge of what happended - umpire gives his version, player his - then questions get asked BY THE TRIBUNAL....to clarify and arrive at a reasonable conclusion.

There are lots of checks and balances within the Tribunal system - treating EVERYONE equally, player, umpire, witnesses or advocates.

The system works - and I'm sorry for the BL player, but the tribunal needed to be consistent, fair and measured in the decison - I am sure they felt terrible knowing the implications of the 12 week sentence. Just doing a job....
