Who picks team of the year ?
Rigney 4 games in season how does that get u a spot, is wrong on players who played all year. Good player but 4 games not worth a spot.
Should be a set number of games you have too play to be in a team of the year.

Thompson on the wing played on ball all year.

Some names on there, i as a coach would not even worry about when we played some sides, but worthy a spot in team of the year?.

David Creek misses out second year in a row lost for words alot of coaches i speak to from other teams rates him a hard one to match up on very strong hands and good kick for goal and a key to beating angle vale shutting him down.

Stewart from smithfield really good winger a key to smithifeld being up there thru the year.

Keetch from houghton on bench should be starting a guy that size and can run is a key to any side.

But team of the year always gets some great chats about right or wrongs on selections.

I think you will find Rigney played 9 games....but your point is taken...should be 12-13 games min to qualify....

Selection with only 4 games is a little bizarre, Keetch should be a lock, they guy is a man mountain with the agility of a gazelle and arguably the best looking bloke in the SAAFL.
I think you'll find with Lingy is that the players that are squeezed out of getting a gig in the middle they'll occupy the wings, it's great to see the young fella doing well, had a lot of courage as a kid for someone that was somewhat undersized growing up.
As for Matty Stewart, I did hear good things about him this year but I didn't get to enough games to judge, maybe 3 from a club that wasn't in the finals was too many.

Rigney is of the best players in the Div, deserves his spot on that alone.

Disagree, you shouldn't just gift a player a spot because he is arguably one of the best in the div, he still has to earn it!

I thought he had an outstanding finals series, so perhaps that is where is was noticed and got his spot?

Is that Lingy? Quality player, i'd play him on the wing, think he would tear teams apart if he was given that space and freedom out on a wing. He carved Ingle Farm up in the Grand Final.

I tend to agree, very suprised he wasn't selected, from the couple games i seen he looked a dangerous forward and tough to match up - read the play well, led well, strong and tall and kicked well. If he could cut back a little on the over the top aggression or cheap tactics (i watched him in the 1st final try and trip his opponent when he was behind then come through elbow raised to get to the ball  ) then i think he would be far more dangerous.

On the flip side, very strong forward line..

I think most the Pooraka lads would be focusing their attention on ex pats Dolan & Long ;)

I thought I became a true farmer when I survived 3 days of intense partying following the grand final! :D
Although this maybe put to the test on this weekends footy trip

Good to see some of the Flinders Uni guys in the team of the year as well, not sure on 2 of them but i think the lad on the wing Daniel Brown is the guy with really curly hair and is a real good player. I did hear though that it is only his second ever year of footy as he is studying at the Uni and is from overseas.

On that last post ^^^^ Are there any clubs going away on footy trips this year? If so where are they heading?
