Problem is rumors and speculation is rampant on here why cant people stop with all the crap talk and lets talk footy.

The forum is rumours and speculation 50% of the time, all of the time.

Just passing on what I have heard from players within the respective clubs.

Well it is known some Angle Vale and Smithfield players are well known to each other, just sayin!, So if Smiffies are banned next year are the players allowed to play elsewhere?

Well i was going to move on but the club spoke to me and a new 2 year deal has been made. But we still have a lot to discuss on that we want Angle vale to put a good foot forward into moving to div 6 and being still a new club its something that if we can avoid the bottom two next year our job is done but i can say 95% of the guys this year will still be playing for Angle Vale in 2013.

But lets be honest we currently do not pay any players and this is something i know that the club and my self will be working hard on in cing if we can recruit some key players, but with limited sponsors and income thru the club this is going to be tuff. Hopefully going to div 6 we might be able to get some more players to the club, because as we know people turn there nose down at div 7 but if they new the type of quality it is they would be shocked.

But out of our GF team only four players have really good connections with smithfield the other 18 dont.

I really like whats happening at angle vale as it seems no matter where they are they are always moving forward, even if it takes a while, theyre always after the next goal, and id really love to see them make finals in div 6

Well you be lucky to get any from the owls as we will not clear any player who has not payed there subs, until all commitments are payed in full.

I know of three players leaving smithfield and they are quality players.

But i dont care we are div 6 and smithfield are div 7 (? maybe) we have worked our way up and know we get to play all other clubs that are A and B grade no C or D grade for us anymore.

Just out of interest are there any div 7 clubs that pay players at all? whether it be just for a win or a weekly payment? Obviously the C grade teams wouldnt but what about the A grade sides?

And if a club does go up to div 6 does this put automatically put pressure on them (the club) to start paying players if they havent been previously?

Looking through your GF team and there's 10 with connections to Smithfield, 9 that played out at Smithfield along with Luke McMahon and Dylan Stephens who both played a fair few A Grade games with you guys this season.
Hopefully for you guys the majority stick together, it was always going to a worry I guess when 27 Smithfield players defected to Angle Vale in one hit.
Your club has done well over the past few years and hopefully you can build on it as the housing developments increase around Angle Vale.
Good Luck in division 6.

Sounds like there are obviously a fair few that havent paid subs then?

Back in the day at clubs i have played at - blokes used to not be able to play if their subs were not paid by a certain date during the season. Makes it hard to run a club when blokes have long pockets and short arms

You're flogging a dead horse there mate, those that do wont admit it anyway, more often than not it isn't the club paying the players anyway.
Good luck to those clubs that are in the position to, it's a pretty much a must now when it comes to success.

Apologies for going over old ground, relatively new to SA and in particular local footy here in the SAAFL.

I would have thought that any A grade side would be getting some sort of incentive to play whether it be just for a win or even a few drink cards back at the club.

Not sure I agree with that....I never expected or thought I deserved anything for playing amateur footy....I dont believe there should be any reward at all imo....Although, I never knocked back a free beverage if it was offered ;)

Don't take things personally BPwizard, the Div 7 forum is full of excitement and innuendo. You have done a fantastic job at the Owls over the last 2 years and deserve a crack at Div 6. Half your boys left Smithfield for a reason and frankly, I have found most of them to be your strength. I guess they were looking for a more disciplined enjoyable environment.

The club has worked hard and players have worked hard to rise out of div 7 and as a club we know it is gunna be a big effort to move forward in div 6 but in general speaking with the club there is a 2 year mark to hopefully play finals but first not to go back to div 7 after the first year is a goal.
