It has only been in the past 5-6 years that they have managed to get one or two games there each year. The school and club have an agreement to play football at the school annually. Also if you have visited Hunter Park this year, you can see that the club is making a consensus effort to try and improve the facilities. They recognised that the oval and facilities were not in good shape and have been working hard to try and improve them. They are also in the process of trying to improve the playing surface as well. Hunter Park will be OIFC home ground for at least the next 5 years......
Anyway, the fact they finish 2nd gives them the option of hosting a final (remembering clubs do have to pay money to the SAAFL) to host them a final. And as FC wrote, this has been the wettest season for a while and all ovals are in terrible condition. So everyone get over it.
FWIW, Iggies to win by 15 points.

Well played Jimmy. For once PAC have been competitive in school footy. What did they do give all there good players Free schooling and Uniforms. Probably added in some pocket money for the weekend as well!!!!
From memory St Micks have been a powerhouse in school footy along with SHOC for a while now. When you start to put Decades of success together then maybe you may have the right to get on here and slag.

I doubt too many of the Portland lads will be complaining about having to make the drive up Port Road to play come Saturday.
True, the playing surface is not the best in the Amateur League but its not that bad considering it would be one of the only grounds in the league without irrigation. It has taken a massive effort by a handful of individuals at the club to keep the from dying altogether the summer.
I also know that the club is very serious about improving its facilities over time- never easy for a small club to do but they have already made significant investments at the ground and intend to make further investments in the future...

Anyway, I wasn't slagging off the school but the decision to forfeit
The games was almost scary with respect to the standard with some absolutely brilliant passages of play through the ground from both sides
And Norwood OvalObviously has had the roof shut for the past month - no mud at all although there must be some funny patches of grass because some of the ways the bounced were just incredible
