Division 2 in 2007!

Adelaide Footy League Talk

Postby Shaz » Mon Apr 23, 2007 1:00 pm

Pretty new to this forum, but try to get to an amatuer game every week. Last year saw quite a few Div 1 games as Largs Oval is prettty convenient to get to (try to get to Uni games if I happen to be in the city and Ramblers), with Districts dropping down this year I suppose I'll be seeing quite a few Div 2 games. Should be a cracker of a game this Wednesday, looking forward to it!!! Didn't see the game on Saturday, but saw the game against Kilburn. Districts seem to have quite a bit of depth this year, some high quality players running around in the B's!!! Not sure about their centre set up, might take a while with all the new players that they have and the loss of Ashley, seemed to be one of their strengths last year. Had a pretty good ruckman last year as well if I remember correctly that gave them first use of the footy, rarely got beaten in the centre. Their A grade ruckman last week looked average at best! Peucker seems to be a pretty handy pick up, gives them a bit of height in the forward line.

It is only early, so lets see how he goes when it is wet and cold and the bal is not getting delivered lace out. The way he is going, he should kick 100 easy...............i reckon he will struggle to kick 70.

At this point in time you wouldnt think the money PNU have spent or promised has been worth it.
They through big money at McLean this year, and he was carved up by Petruno on the weekend.

Newman, do you see any changes for tomorrows blockbuster? Any boys at the Rams pulled up sore? I am thinking about some of the older guys that generally take longer to recover, Marshall, Kerley, Petruno?

i said to the Pres on Friday night that realisticly we were going to be very lucky to get within 10 goals of Seaton and if we did we would have played a good game.

We got JUST within 10 goals of them, but we played like shit, no excuses, but had we played better we actually could have got closer to them. In round 1, we were up by 2 points at half time and came off second best only by 4 odd goals to a team to are known for being strong finishers

Bit unfair to say were going to struggle when our first two games were against a team that missed out on a grand final by 10 points last year and a team coming down from div 1.

Macca is unfortunately still on the sidelines - his "Career ending (his words)" Calf is still bothering him. We missed him and Scott Darrington in the backlines, Scotts season lasted all of 10 mins, a medial ligament tear will keep him out for a few weeks. Some stubborn old fools just dont know when enough is enough

FC, Darrington must be 38 by now..... He played in the losing Div 4 GF against Portland in 2000, and he was about 32 then!!!!!

Watching the game FC and it seemed that you lacked a little bit of depth. Your top 10 are good players but then it falls away and it didnt look like you had much in your b grade. Very hard at it though which has always been the case at PNU. ROH seems like Hodgy has really worked hard at the rehab side of things. Will have the boys up and firing come Wednesday. Older players tend to look after themselves a little better these days.

'The Paul Marshall Heckling Squad' is all ready and assembled for tomorrows big game. They are proudly led by 'The Heffernator'. The squad has been practising their insults all week and may even bring a banner.

Last time there was a banner for Paul Marshall it fell over before the bounce and so did he.

Felch there will be standing room only tomorrow, get there early. The game does have an ex Portland feel to it with some many ex Portland players in both camps.

Darrington will be 40 in July.

We still have 3 or 4 to come back from injury. Newman, to be said that we were hard at it on Saturday is almost laughable for mine, that wasnt anywhere near our best. anyone who saw our first half of last weeks game can vouch for that ..now we just have to put 4 quarters together...

PS: Coulda made yourself known newman... i might be a busy woman but always have time to say hi to a fellow poster

Heff has been taking abuse lessons from Pups - he was in fine form again on the weekend, especially at the opposition full back when he kicked straight into the full forwards hands from a kick-out. Portland is not the place to do that, not at the clubrooms end anyway.

I said allegedly (even though IMO its a stupid and potentially very dangerous thing to do, yet was not reported and thus is being investigated)

As much as I'd love to out the guy, I can only give a "no comment" at this stage.

Hope you understand my position guys..thanks

I agree with FC here until the investigations are carried out and conclusion has been made, there is no point dragging someones name through the mud and starting vicious rumours within a forum, time will tell if the incident was witnessed and the correct proceedures will be carried out.

On a previous matter FC and Eliz are spot on about McGlennon, I was lucky enough to play with the guy at Birdwood for a while and he is a real class act. Might not have the 'class' to play A grade at Payneham but will be an asset to any club, this guy is a real club man and on the field will not be beaten across half back. Just hopefully we get to see him back in the red and white one day... maybe with a few of his new Payneham mates....

ROH I reckon it sounds like Paul Marshall - it'd be around that time of the month for him aswell.

[quote="Falcon Chick"]Darrington will be 40 in July.

ROH, Red Dogs game was marred by a nasty incident where blood was allegedly deliberately flicked onto his face by a seaton player (and that's all I'll say about that for now) That really shook him up and just wasnt on the ball after that.

I wasnt t the game personally but i wish i was. From my reports there was a few behind the play incidents that annoyed the seaton Players. I am not sure who the culprits were but i wa also told that blood was flicked at a PNU player by a seaton player, not a good situation in todays climate. It will be interesting to see if anything comes of it becaUSE it is disgusting. If something does happen to the seaton player then the players from PNU should also be investigated especially for the incident involving Ryan kelly. Perhaps if there is an investigation under way regarding the incident that player should also be stood down from the Anzac day clash, i am sure the Districts boys wouldnt want someone elses blood flicked at them.. And if it does happen again i would be sure to say that there would be more of that players blood spilt and thats just not good for the game!!!
