But in the mean time i'd just like to say all four clubs were exemplary guests at the PNU footy club today and were very well represented by their coaches, players, members and supporters. I did every job there was today and apart from a very very tiny minority everyone was a pleasure to deal with and I'm beyond impressed with the professionalism and people involved with all four clubs

your letter has been received and posted on one of our FB sites..very much appreciated and unexpected..on behalf of our club we would like to thankyou for hosting..we had no problems whatsoever on the day and we were looked after by the PNU people whenever it was required..you should be proud of the professionalism your club exudes..thanks again..

commiserations to zartan who like myself felt the sting of losing but you did some incredible things with your group this year and perhaps the win in the preliminary took to much out of them?

TOS never looked in doubt from the word go, the writing was on the wall very early - just so ferocious around the contest and quick on the outside. I think our lads were definitely spent after a month of playing high stakes footy - Lockleys, Brahma and Smithfield away was always going to take it's toll eventually, and even before that closing out the season fighting for a finals spot was tough.

Thought we had some good patches especially during the 2nd term but just couldn't hit the scoreboard - losing Brinkley with a broken foot in the 1st quarter hurt, then Brady with torn ligaments in the 2nd.. that's our two most prolific goal kickers.. throw in young Dye who was running hard from the wing concussed in the 2nd quarter we were always going to struggle late.

Probably could've gone a more defensive last quarter and tried to keep the scoreline respectable but seriously don't think it matters how much you lose by, we just needed to try and win the game - which was near on impossible with 17 on the field most of the last quarter.

Oh well these things happen, HT and his lads were outstanding - their back 6 was super strong and the ran and tackled hard.. no shame in admitting we were comprehensively beaten by a far superior outfit.

Heard mid season Varcoe was coming next year regardless

And must say thanks to PNU for their hospitality, excellent in all ways again.

Smithfield would have to expand their salary cap by 25% to win the div 5 flag next year surely?

Westminster OS went back to back flags in 6 & 5 in 2014, BOS finished top in Div 5 2015 after winning div 6 last year.

I doubt either of these teams went out & significantly increased payments if at all.

But feel free to keep embarrassing yourself on here ;)

You know what's funny, I was thinking about cricket this morning and it got me thinking about your payments argument, and I realised, when it comes to cricket people are totally different - more open about incentives and payments they receive or that clubs are willing to pay.. maybe it is a culture thing :-?

youre the minions throwing stones buddy, i as usual have merely created another legitimate discussion which will keep posters entertained for another day, the embarrassment is yours exposing yourself as insecure to anything i say

there really wouldnt be too much difference between div 4-6 divisions? a quality side with genuine work rate & a few little tweaks would challenge other fellow goodies in these divs?

You're the one that throws fables out there with no merit at all, I'll give you the details of the next AGM (usually around November), we can attend together, I'll even pay for your 2016 membership and you can peruse the annual financial report that is compiled by the treasurer who is a registered accounted and then audited by an independent accountant.

If the members of the Smithfield Sports & Social Club were to find out that the money they spend over the bar and towards membership was paying for people to play for the club, there would be an uproar.

The SS&SC comprise of about 6 netball sides, 3 to 4 cricket sides, many dart teams along with 8 ball teams all of whom would be demanding hand outs if football was receiving any more than best player awards.

Everything is transparent, 80% of the players there played juniors out there and the rest are mates with them, unless the coach is dipping into his own pocket out of his coaching contract to which I'd be thinking it's around $5K max, then I can categorically say that the Smithfield Football Club does not pay their players, it costs them enough for their day to day bills of keeping their club alive.

Probably, it could be more given the result of last season, I'm just going off the rate when I was chairman plus inflation.
