Awesome.
Now I'm devoting myself to getting the ugliest tuxedo for Globe Derby Night. I love playing at North Haven, everybody hates us but we love ourselves so much we don't need anybody else. Best social football club in the league.

Well its hard for Burridge to get a kick as he is suspended. Wareing doesnt need to get kicks to look good, he just looks good full stop.

Thats all good Punky, but maybe get your facts correct on who is from where !!!

Myself and Fisty are the only Portland guys on here, and, as far as i can see, havent been involved in the recent dribble.

I agree on the new thread, but the name should be changed...

Have enjoyed reading these forums until the last few weeks. When are you blokes who seem to think that it is still ok to fight and hurt players going to step into the 21st century? Footy has changed - thuggery is no longer acceptable. Get it through your heads that no-one cares if you think you are tough. No-one cares if you win premierships. No-one cares if you continue to bag umpires. They do a job. And just like your players they make mistakes. Probably no more than some of the players who still run around. So stop defending blokes who get suspended for games - we all know that if the umpires reported every player who broke the rules there would be a line-up out on to Tynte St every Wednesday. So if a player gets caught just wear it and stop your whingeing because you probably had 20 before that who didn't get reported. So forget your court of law rules-pretty sure you have no idea of those anyway-and play footy as it should be played. Reputations of so-called tough western or northern clubs have been fading for years and now are becoming bigger whingers than college teams. The "everyone is against us" mentality is old & tired - get over it and step into the world of discipline & abide by the rules instead of trying to break them and see how you go. Maybe then you might get the respect you think you deserve.

Yep and your views and beliefs are exactly why we are a soft society, happy with mediocracy. If a player is playing poorly he gets dropped, if your not doing your job well enough you get fired. When an umpire has a bad day, its not his fault. Who do they have to answer to?
Why should we be happy to accept a poor standard of umpiring week in week out in all grades. I have watched a lot of senior and junior football this year and overall would have to say the standard of umpiring is below par.
I know it is a tough gig and we wouldn't be able to play if we didn't have these guys, but in reality these guys are getting paid to do a job. If they were volunteers I would understand and be more reluctant to voice my opinion.
IMO these guys are a protected species and because of this have been happy to let the standard fall by the way side because no one is putting pressure on them to perform. Why don't we make them more accountable, I know we have umpire reports but how many of those do you think actually read.
For the whole amatuer league sake something needs to be done about the umpiring standards.

I dont think theres anything wrong with umpires reporting players they see and believe to be doing the wrong thing but they need to be consistent with other clubs. A team complaining and dobbing in players pissing in the trees before a game though is ridiculous.
