4/5 Henley firming for the Minor Round Flag, while Angle Vale make a late charge for 5th spot.

Top spot was up for grabs at Shark Park on Saturday, as Henley took on St.Pauls Old Scholars in a unique contest. The Saints for the first time in their short history had to deal with a female field umpire officiating the 'A' grade match. In a time, where sexes are becoming more equal, the Saints anticipated that this move by the amateur league would work in their favour. It is no secret, that the Saints boast the 'Best Looking' football coach in Amateur League in the form of the 'Riddler', and his style and charisma (Plus dancing skills) would surely seduce the Female umpire. With one umpire on his side surely the free kick count would be lop sided to the Saints? Unfortunately for the Riddler this wasn't the case, as his charming of the umpires worked to no avail. But it was Henley which struck first working against a tough breeze to kick the first goal of the match. The Saints hit back, but they blew the usage of the wind going in at level pegging at Quater time. The slippery and muddy surface, combined with the tricky breeze produced a forgettable first half in which only 6 goals were scored, but Henley's Matthew Ehrlich's attempt for 'Mark of the Year' being the highlight. With a handy 3 goal lead at half time, the Sharks went defensive with victory in their sights in the 3rd term, with David Loveder playing the 'loose man' role to aplomb, and Joshua McKenzie and Brad Weston finding plenty of the footy. The Saints fought hard to get back into the contest to bridge the margin back to 6 points at the final break. With so much on the line, the final quater became an arm wrestle, with neither side giving an inch till a Shane Walshe goal followed by another after a 75 metre penaly against the Saints, sealed the cotest for the Sharks with about 10 minutes remaining. Henley proved to be the better side on the day, but the Saints will take heart from the performances of Vice Captain Daniel Barboulovic, Mt.Lofty recruit Derek O'Gorman, and the 'Damien Oliver Built' Jason Mattner who shut down the dangerous Barnes as well picking up more Dream Team stats you would find for the average Full Back. Henley have a chance of securing top spot next week as the Sharks take on Athelstone, while the Saints will look to return to the winners list against the low placed North Pines.

  only remembered this conversation late last night...funny stuff!

All the charm in the world wasn't going to help with that umpire, think i may have been the wrong gender for her

Great tussle at Shark Park on Saturday was an arm wrestle the whole game, beaten by a much better team on the day who wanted the ball more....Matty Ehrlich took one of the best marks i've ever seen in amateur league, was huge would have won Almost Footy Legends by a mile!

Pigsy thinks Athelstone won't go up do Div 6 (a la Henley 08) if they make the GF. Pigsy also thinks the Raggies had a meeting about this last year.....will they do it again?

With the final four all but secured, any prognostications on who will finish fifth this year? And are any of these teams capable of causing an upset on their day?
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

Angle Vale are my tip.
Hard team to play against as they really want the ball and put everything on the line to get it.
